We went there as a family, as it was the 1st year deathiversary of my Late Mother,'s passing. She'd always loved going to Spur and having a nice chicken schnitzel. It was quite nice, a full restaurant, good atmosphere and we enjoyed our meal altho the cheddarmelt rump was tough and did not really look like a rump cut. The young adults who are my mothers grandchildren, ate half their food and diligently saved the rest for lunch the next day. Informed the waiter that they wanted take- away boxes. The waiter took one of the plates with food, away having been asked for take aways. We kept waiting for the box to be returned, but finally discovered the food had just disappeared into the kitchen next to be found again. It changed our mood from happy to unhappy simply because the young lady suddenly felt awkward, didn't want to make a scene, but had to adjust to the fact that she was not leaving with her food, she had carefully saved. I felt the awkwardness and ended up giving a small tip, which I didn't even think was deserved. The waiter just told us that he couldn't find the food in the kitchen, literally had been thrown away or consumed within seconds of the plate arriving back, in the kitchen. He kind of made it sound like it was an entitlement that we must just accept the story. He made no effort to rectify the situation. We left the restaurant feeling negative. It will probably be the last time I ever go to...
Read moreWait staff: Friendly, knowledgeable and fast.
Manager: VERY friendly but I felt she lingered in the 'small talk-check up' the tiniest bit too long.
Food: Fast, hot, in stock and precisely as you'd HOPE you'll receive a Spur meal, not as you've by now come to expect a meal from this franchise.
Atmosphere: Hated it!! VERY noisy with children and feels a bit crammed.
Parking: Atterbury Value Mart has always been chaotic but enough space to park somewhere you can keep an eye on the safety of your vehicle.
Overall personal experience and thoughts:
(I feel this location is still far too new to accurately review, but taking my bias in disliking the Spur franchise into account I am willing to offer my review.)
It is not a bad restaurant at all, but definitely far from my favourite either. Nothing against this particular location, but if I haven't invited to meet up with family for a night out I wouldn't have ever visited. Personally, I found it far too noisy with kids screaming, crying and shouting non-stop. With the space already feeling super crammed it, it was worse with the kids running around between tables everywhere and my dining experience was a very annoying one. I also dislike the birthday singing that Spur does, especially in a very small location...
Read moreReally we have eaten many times at this spur but tonight was a disappointment. We arrived at 20:00. Not a lot of people this Tuesday evening. Service was poor a lot of waiters just standing around or started to clean. Waited 15 min for our drinks. The table next to us arrived 20 min after us but actually was served their mains before us. The crumbed mushrooms were cold so we thought ok maybe the mains would be better. Our meat was good but cold, the plates was warm (seemed our food was standing and they heated the plates. the chips were raw and onion rings not crunchie as usual. Waited 10 min for a glass of water(ice basically melted before we got it). The waiters were just more concerned with chatting and cleaning than serving. Really disappointing will be supporting rather another restaurant. Close rather early than have...
