Shawnee Spur Halaal — Restaurant in Gauteng

ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE SERVICE! I got to the spur and order a meal to go. After paying(the time was 19:33) the gentleman who was assisting me whose name was David told me to take a seat the food should be ready in 15-20 mins. The restaurant was empty there were 2 other customers inside(I will attach a picture). Around 10 minutes after placing my order 2 white gentleman walked in and a waitress took their orders and I kid you not after about 10/12 minutes she served them their meals! At this point I’ve waited about 22 minutes which was not a problem. This is where my issue comes in, I kindly ask the same lady who served the 2 gentlemen to please check my order as I had placed it way before the gentlemen arrived she said okay and proceeded to walk to the front desk and just stood there. To top it all off after this, the manager (who had seen me walk in, and saw me seated for a while) walks right past me and heads to the gentlemen’s table she had a lengthy conversation with the gentlemen about their meals as they said it was not what they ordered however they didn’t mind eating it. She apologised and ran to the kitchen to get them their correct orders that they would then take as a takeaway. Once again on her way to the kitchen she walked right past me. I am not sure what this mangers name was, however it is the lady who was working on the 25th of September 2024 at around 19:30 I think I heard one of the waitresses call her “Thando” I have video footage of all of this but will not share it due to the POPI ACT. Still after all of this I remained calm. I placed my order at 19:33 and at 20:10(almost 40 minutes later)I got up went to the front desk and asked them to cancel the order at this point the 2 gentlemen were almost done with their meals and I had still been waiting with ZERO COMMUNICATION WHATSOEVER after I had asked for assistance. It was only at this point that they decided to go check my order and David came running with the box of wings and then he said he was still waiting for the chips and onion rings which is not what I asked for , I asked for the butternut and creamy spinach. He went back to the kitchen to correct that and after a few minutes he returned with the box of veggies. As if that was not enough when I arrived home and opened the meal the butternut was undercooked , full of water and literally tasteless. The spinach was just runny. What a terrible experience I am never returning to this Spur again. The staff especially the manager needs to be trained and taught that all customers should be treated equally we are all paying customers they were not doing me a favour! And such disrespect should not...

1 Sentence Summary: Catch up with your chops and ribs combos at this friendly and comfy chain outpost.

What’s good here? Despite sampling it oodles of times, the Spur menu always takes me some time to choose - as it’s always enticingly comprehensive.

Whilst the chops and combos generally catch my eye, don’t overlook the sides (as there’s lots of value to be had by throwing in a few extra ribs or wings).

Nice access to the restaurant - at the top of a car park by all mall; no more traipsing for ages through the shops to get your scoff on!

What’s an ‘Opportunity for Improvement’? I always wish Spur Onion Rings were just a bit thicker; but then they’d be like the deep-fried beasts served up dripping in the UK I guess.

Tell me More Whenever I’ve been in any Spur - and that’s a good few - they’ve always been consistent. I visited this restaurant on a quiet afternoon and service was still fast, friendly and welcoming whilst the food was nice as always.

Top Tip Don't forget to buy some of their superb sauces for a take-home treat!

4 - the extra touches on the service, and the consistency of the food quality (especially on a quiet afternoon) made it a very good experience.

On Friday evening we arrived at the Spur Sunninghill to buy Dinner ..we arrived there at 9.10 pm the evening & we knew that closing is 10pm so we asked for the menu and that we will be doing take away because of the time. The restuarant was fairly empty considering the closing time was in an hr We waited for our order which was extremely long seen that it was empty & only us to attend to ..while waiting the waiter came to us after 20 minutes saying that they don't have hot vegetables for the 2 orders we wanted they can only do one with veggies which we said it's ok then we will do chips & onion rings for the other order, & eventually when we got our take aways we saw that he brought double of the one order where we only ordered one of that particular order and we told him that he doubled the one order & he just stood looking at us as if it was our problem then after few minutes he said they can't reverse the one order & that he will have to pay for it ..Feeling sorry for him we just paid the extra which was R180 extra for food we did not order.On arriving home when we opened our food boxes what a disappointment the veggies firstly looked like scraps that was put together and the chips and onion rings tasted so old also seemed like scraps were scraped together to make the meal up. We are faithful Spur customers & don't expect this type of service really ..we hardly ate that good which ended up in the bin we just...
