Ok y’all.. I’ll be honest.. it’s not Tennessee BBQ but it’s a really fun “taste of home” or tast-ish” of home. We Tried corn dogs, chicken wings, Tacos and pork ribs (really more St. Louis style almost than TN but whatever). Here is my honest review: “Buffalo” wings are crispy and tasty.. l mini wings from a mini chicken... but they are not Buffalo wings as we mean that term: Buffalo wings connote a very specific flavor and sauce... they hail so they say from Buffalo NY (think Franks red sauce with butter) but the crispiness was spot on (not crumbed... properly cooked)... Buffalo wings are also always served with ranch or blue cheese dressing and carrots and/ or celery sticks. So While I was disappointed these weren’t “real” Buffalo wings I still really enjoyed them Bc thehot sauce I chose (you can get others.. sweet sauces can never be Buffalo sauce remember )... was like a peri-peri sauce on steroids... now to the coleslaw.. It again is not any variation of southern coleslaw I’ve every tried and as a Southerner I’ve tried a lot.. and even for sweet fiends the sauce to coleslaw ration was whew... needs more cabbage... but the sauce was still tasty (like they mixed Carolina slaw with Memphis or something). The tacos.. Tennessee is not traditionally known for its tacos so I’d say maybe they are a South African variant ... personally I’d skip the tacos (the soft ones were really thin and after warming in the oven of something they had spots of crispiness.. so not real tortillas)... . stick to the pork ribs... those were fantastic. Truly. They could have been a bit more tender and we only tried one sauce: mix of the Jack Daniels fire and sweet. But smoked pork baby back with beautiful basting. South Africa knows meat and I was a fan. I don’t like Sweet US bbq so for me the local spicy twist was awesome!!! And it did not have any Asian soy sauce type flavor like you’d have if you ordered sticky ribs in the US. Beans— these are NOT U.S. baked beans ( for me thank god!! I do not like our baked beans Bc they are so sweet..) these are much more like Mexican refries pinto beans (good job on that flavor!!!!)... again not Tennessee but hey! Pretty cool! And then last but not least the American Bourbon and whiskey tasting... y’all.. it was so fun! And our waiter Denzel was the bomb. I’m coming back to try your peach cobbler... and I’m going to be honest about that too.. I did see pecans in the recipe so you’ve got me intrigued but I’ll let you know! Oh on the corn dogs: as a general rule o hate corn dogs so not the best to write a review but... I ate 1/2 of one of the appetizer ones and that is about 3 more bites than I would have of a US corn dog. The batter was thicker than I’d like but the dog tasted like home and the batter was soft and not well done. Tasted more like local “corn bread” than straight up US carnival...
Read moreI've walked past this place a few times and the decor always struck me. About 2 or 3 weeks ago I decided to go here for date night since my partner and I are both whiskey drinkers and their whiskey tasting caught my eye. We booked a table - went, got seated at a cosy little table, there was live music, the place seemed very vibey. We waited about 35 mins for the waiter to come take our first drinks order, we ordered some Jack, I enquired about wine tasting and my partner would do the whiskey tasting. Another 35 mins for the drinks to come. Drinks came, we ordered food and i again enquired about the wine tasting, the lady said she wasn;t sure she will find out. Another 20 mins passed, she came back, i asked again, she said she forgot she will find out. Food eventually came, it was delicious I cant fault that at all. So we were there now for almost 2 hours, only had 2 drinks each because the service was EXTREMELY SLOW. I got up and headed to the bar to see I could order a drink there, however the "bar" is closed and you cant order at the counter, so i went back to my seat and waited...and waited...and waited... after a good meal, only 2 drinks in two hours, we decided to leave because we were really unattended and spent the evening trying to find someone to bring us drinks. I'd rate the establishment higher if the service was better, alas we didnt have a great experience in terms of the service...
Read moreTaste of Tennessee, more like taste of terrible service! I wish I could give them 1 star. We went there last night and I still can't believe what happened. We got a table to sit outside, got our drinks and ordered food. In a few moments, we were cold. We asked to be seated inside; we were a party of 5, they told us they had a table for 4 and we were even like alright can you squeeze a chair? We just want to be inside. The waiter refused and was just generally rude and unhelpful throughout. At that point, I said cancel the food order because I am not about to freeze at a place where I am paying! The junior manager or someone came out, she was not helpful either. We agreed to get take aways and had to end up eating in the car. We walked through the restuarant when leaving and there were empty tables throughout the restuarant in different places. They judged us on appearance I guess, that we weren't worth an inside table and that we weren't going to spend that much money. The waiter, manager, everyone was just RACIST! I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE AT ALL!! Their customer service was just terrible. But the food was good, even if we ate in the...
