I thought I’d let this go but the manner in which I was treated was absolutely appalling. My boyfriend and I arrived last night (Wednesday) at Cofi. Our plan was to have a drink or two after the dinner we had elsewhere and then leave. Upon arrival the place was quite empty aside for a table of men. After entering the waiteress (lovely lady for the short time I got to meet her) lead us to a table on the other side of the main bar where the DJ decks are located.
After arriving I needed to use the ladies bathroom and asked my boyfriend to check the menu when it arrives. The women’s bathroom unfortunately smelt horrible. There was only one stall working and the stench of piss and drain filled the air so badly I couldn’t use it. Initially I thought I could hold my breath but I felt as though I was going to vomit. I immediately left without using the facilities and went back to the table, telling my boyfriend I’d rather we go elsewhere as I would need the bathroom the entire time we were there. I need to add here that as I was walking back to the table the group of men seemed to be calling out to me which made me uncomfortable as they clearly saw me walking in with my boyfriend, hand-in-hand. Please note this for later. As we got up to leave we went to the waitress to let her know we will be leaving due to the facilities as we both know we would need to use the bathroom throughout the time we would be there. She told us we could use the unisex bathroom (which was previously in use when I originally went).
Upon entering the smell again was horrible but not as bad so I used the spray available and blocked my nose. I then requested for my boyfriend to enter into the bathroom with me and block the door as I already felt incredibly uncomfortable as it is. This bouncer comes out of nowhere and SCREAMS extremely disrespectfully at my boyfriend to get out. At this point the door is slightly open so he can see my boyfriend speak to him and because as a woman we NEVER sit on toilet seats I was already using the bathroom. You could hear my wee. At this point my boyfriend cannot just exit as the distance from the toilet seat and the door is too far for me to be able to close it once he goes so I have to just finish quick. My boyfriend simply says to the bouncer “please do not scream or yell at me like a child”. The bouncer continues to scream and throw a tantrum and tell us we need to leave. We both say “we have no intentions to stay”. After I’m done I wash my hands and we exit. The bouncer continues to berate and scream. Eventually I snap and I tell him to go to the women’s bathroom and smell for himself. I also explain that I am not the type of person to want to do anything sexual in a bathroom that smells like crap as that was the only thing he was insinuating. During this not once did this bouncer listen, he clearly loves the sound of his own voice and screaming at people. Customers at that. A simple explanation on his part RESPECTFULLY like he is talking to grown people would’ve been the best approach which we both would’ve understood and explained why. But no. He acted extremely unprofessional. The more I attempted to explain the more he screamed and screamed. You would think that’s it? No. He decided to then insult me for standing up for myself. My boyfriend at this point is also upset but keeping it together and we walk out. As someone who has worked in the service industry I have never come across someone so disrespectful, distasteful and horrid. I don’t usually leave reviews however this was the most vile thing ever.
I will never ever again visit this...
Read moreI went with my sister on the opening night. It was...fun BUT
The ground floor was general access and the top floor was VIP, so you could go upstairs if you were willing to pay for a bottle. Most of the fun is downstairs, where the DJs play their sets. What I'm saying is a whole floor area for VIP seemed useless to me. The ground floor is quite small and restrictive in design. We had to share tables with strangers because it was so packed. You literally couldn't leave your table unattended to go to the bathroom, but then again it was opening night... it might not be like that in future.
Drinks: we both had cocktails throughout the night and they were really good. The waiting time was annoying because it was so full.
Food: prawn pizza & chicken-avo pizza. The prawn pizza was amazing. The chicken-avo pizza was okay. We weren't happy with the avos, so our waiter replaced them.
I do plan on going again during the day. If my experience is better, I'll update...
Read moreI don't know if I should give this place 1 star or 5! I actually stopped at Fishmonger next door for lunch, but they told me that their wi-fi wasn't working, I popped over to Cofi. As I arrived, I asked for the wi-fi password, which a lady wrote down & gave me. I then sat there for an hour-and-a-half using their free wi-fi. Not once in all that time did a waitron bring me a menu or ask me what I wanted to eat or drink! I just sat there working, as I would in an office & just out of interest, I didn't call anybody - just to see how long it would take them. In the end I gave up & left. Thank you, Cofi, for the use of your wi-fi but I can't rate you on food or service, as I didn't get any! I'm so pleased that you business is doing so well that you can give away free wi-fi & not need to sell any food or drink. Sadly, I...
