Absolutely disappointing food and service. I have been here before with no issues but this time, the food and service was just disgusting. We ordered sweet and sour chicken which is an absolute favorite of mine. This was the worst sweet and sour chicken I've eaten - in fact I couldn't manage to eat it and had to leave it behind. Firstly, the food was cold. The rice felt old and didn't taste or smell fragrant and soft like sticky rice generally is. Also, no vegetables in site... the sauce was given in this tiny tiny bowl which left everything dry. Felt quite stingy, especially considering the price and location. But here is the WORST PART: There was NO SALT in the food. No salt in the rice, no salt in the chicken or the batter... everything was so bland and tasteless. We even asked the waitress to bring us table salt because the food had no salt. Because the chicken was cooked without salt, adding salt after didn't help and it just wasn't worth eating. We asked to see the manager THREE times, and they told us he's too busy to come speak to us, which is honestly just pathetic customer service on his end. For such a restaurant in a high-end corner, it's quite arrogant for a manager to not bother coming to fix issues or offer solutions for the bad food. The waiters had to try their best to cover for the managers lack of service, and unfortunately they kept giving us excuses that they generally don't cook this food with salt. Excuse me? Who doesn't put SALT IN RICE???? What restaurant have you ever heard of that doesn't salt their food AT ALL? They still charged us for the food and only gave us a 30% discount on the ONE meal that was saltless. This was absolutely terrible since we sent back the full plates. I still tipped the waitress. It's not her fault at the end of the day, but the management and the kitchen for having the audacity to think that selling food at those prices WITHOUT COOKING THEM WITH SOME SALT is even acceptable. Please just save your money and go to Spur or something you know will be good. You can look at the photo and tell me if that's a meal paying full price for.

ATE HERE ON THE 21ST MARCH 2025 AT 13:00 FOR 10 PAX ●DELICIOUS SUSHI (The sushi at Tataki Oriental Cuisine was truly exceptional. We opted for the all-you-can-eat sushi buffet, which offered an incredible variety of sushi options, including classic maki rolls, sashimi, and nigiri. Each piece of sushi was expertly prepared and presented, with fresh, flavorful ingredients and impeccable attention to detail. The sushi was so delicious that we ended up trying almost everything on the menu! The sushi tho does have a lot of rice in it sometimes too much but I guess that's part of the buffet to fill you up however our table had about min 40 pieces of sushi each.) ●AMAZING SERVICE (The service at Tataki Oriental Cuisine was top-notch. Our server was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable, happy to answer our questions about the menu and make recommendations. The staff were also very efficient, ensuring that our glasses were always full and that we had everything we needed throughout our meal.) ●ATMOSPHERE (The atmosphere at Tataki Oriental Cuisine was warm and inviting, with a modern and sleek décor that added to the overall ambiance of the restaurant. The background music was subtle and relaxing, and the lighting was dim and intimate, making it the perfect setting for a night out with friends or a romantic evening.) ●VALUE FOR MONEY (The all-you-can-eat sushi buffet at Tataki Oriental Cuisine was an absolute steal. For a very reasonable price, we were able to enjoy as much sushi as we wanted, without any limitations or restrictions. The quality and variety of the sushi were exceptional, making it an unbeatable value for money.) Definitely reccomend this place and their food, very much worth it.

I’m a sucker for an all you can eat sushi buffet. All you can eat sushi for R215pp, everyday. The sushi was not bad at all, the ingredients were fresh but if I am completely honest they did use a lot of rice. I eat a lot of sushi and I definitely noticed the excess amount of rice that they used on most, if not all of there dishes. The tempura prawns were tasty. The service we received from our waiter Prince was excellent, really happy dude and you could sense his excitement to be working there. All in all, not bad, give it a go.

Beautiful Brunch Date at Tataki Sushi: A New Favourite Spot!

My partner and I had the most amazing brunch date at Tataki Sushi at New Market Mall in Alberton, and it completely exceeded our expectations!

The vibe was relaxed yet stylish, perfect for a mid-morning escape. From the moment we arrived, the staff were welcoming and attentive, making us feel like we were in for something special, and they absolutely delivered.

The brunch selection was fresh, vibrant, and full of flavour. We indulged in a mix of classic sushi favourites and some unique brunch-inspired dishes that were both beautifully plated and incredibly satisfying. Everything was prepared with care, and the quality of the ingredients truly stood out. Paired with refreshing drinks and a few sweet treats to end off, it was the perfect balance of indulgence and relaxation.

What made it even more memorable was sharing it with my partner in such a serene setting: no rush, no noise, just good food and even better company.

Tataki Sushi has officially become our go-to brunch spot when we want to slow down and savour something special. Highly recommended for couples, friends, or anyone who appreciates fresh, delicious Japanese cuisine in a...
