We were there today, I am currently sitting on my parents bed while my mother is vomiting and suffering from symptoms of food poisoning.
Literally all we had to eat today was their smash burgers as we didn't eat anything else.
Meat and rocomayo wasn't sour but I believe their caramelized onions that were stored in the fridge are old or improperly stored which can cause bacteria to grow on it and cause food poisoning.
The manager today at 14hr00 shift as well as our waiter who is obviously new had no sense of proper communication.
Not notifying the customers about the onions being in the fridge.
If they were freshly caramelized onions they would be coming off of a frying pan, not out of a fridge making the whole burger cold.
Considering they were in the fridge and date was not marked on the container they are probably old and what is causing my mom to throw up every 5 minutes and suffer from severe cramps! 😡🤬
Editing today (the next day, 05/05/2025)
After communicating with a food specialist, the caramelized onions being cold mixed with the bacon on the burger is possibility 1 for the cause of food poisoning and the 2nd possibility for the food poisoning is the caramelized onions themselves as she agrees with my suspicion that because it's been stored in a fridge the possibility of it being old is definitely plausible reason of the food poisoning
I'm adding it onto my original review to notify and warn other...
Read moreOn Friday, 10 November 2023, my family and I went to the restaurant to get dinner. We ordered The Gamer, Slacker Burger, Slaw Daddy and Fries To Share, and man, can I tell you, to my great disgust and disappointment. The Slaw Daddy's chicken fillet not only tasted as if it was fried in last year's oil, but it was so dry and hard. The Gamer patties were dry and tasteless too. Now, let's talk about the Slacker. Patties were dry and it looked as if the "Chef" had scraped every piece of the patties that had broken off on the griddle together and piled it on those patties. It was absolutely disgusting. The patties were so dry and hard that it you literally struggled to bite into the burger and swallowing it was such a painful process. The chips - DRY. We eventually ended up throwing that entire R400 into the dustbin - Literally. I've never been this disappointed with a RocoMamas meal before. That was a R400 that we could've spent elsewhere and had a decent meal for the night. I don't think I'd ever go back to any RocoMamas restaurant again. This experience was just too...
Read moreAs a die-hard RocoMamas fan, it takes more than one slip-up factor for me to rate them anything other than a solid 5. I love the concept, the taste, the service, the vibe.
However, during my most recent visit a couple of things dragged the score down, as together, they created the impression that senior management was not present.
Small thing, the hand blower in the ladies was not switched on. In isolation, easy to ignore. No menus as the prices on those were old, not that that was communicated until we asked for menus half way through our visit.
The order arrived without the chips as there was an issue with the fryer. And the chips arrived when we'd finished eating.
The food, as always tasted great though. Still a fan, but it reminded me of the importance of a manager or senior staff member who is able to run a pretty tight ship and understands the importance of sharing info with customers at the right time.
Nobody is perfect. Hiccups happen. But on this day quite a couple of them dented the usual...
