This review is in respect of the restaurant. My retired parents lived in the area for a few years, so we were fairly frequent visitors to the restaurant, the last time about two years ago whereafter my parents relocated. The quality of the food was always good with good value for money, too. Service was excellent. So, in expectation of the same standard, I returned with 2 family members when we had to run an errand in the area. The service from the waiters was excellent. The food, however, was awful. We ordered the 12 and 8 queen prawns and calamari with rice and salad. The best was the salad, served in small side plates, although the water from the washing of the lettuce hadn't been allowed to drain, so the salad floated on water. The prawns were overcooked, to the extent that we struggled to remove the meat from the shells, abandoning the shells with the unremovable grilled-in prawn meat. The calamari was over cooked, too and tough and horrible. The rice was overcooked. We complained when asked and were offered a fresh serving, but we were in a hurry and opted to finish up and pay the bill. The two stars is for the attentive wait staff. Food is rated at zero, definitely no longer worth the time stopping over in a not so pleasant area. Sad to say, but we should rather have gone a little further to Eastgate. The restaurant is no longer what...
Read moreChanging my previous 4 star review. Ordered a margarita pizza and some other things. Then later find out that the pizza man isn't in today so they can't do pizzas. Then ask for water and they say that the tap water is currently bad. Fine, Joburg water is currently doing maintenance so fair enough. Swap to the R30 Nata and cappuccino special for drinks.
Get the cappuccinos and ask for the nata's. Only to be told that they don't have nata's and that we will be charged for the cappuccinos at their normal price of R24 each. I ask to speak to the manager and am told that she has been informed, and so I ask if the waiter can tell her that we are really disappointed and we would never have just ordered the cappuccinos without the nata's.
He tells the manager, Sue who is 4 meters away from us and comes back to tell us she is, "really sorry". If she was sorry she could have come to talk to us or removed one of the beverages from the bill.
Literally anything. I can deal with a lot but having to pay for something that I didn't exactly order because the restaurant can't fulfill their deal is ridiculous.
More ridiculous if you consider that Casa Das Nata is their franchise. Not inspiring since the parent company had nonchalant service and limited stock not communicated up front.
Prefer Bemboms R25 coffee and nata special on the 20th...
