September 2025 • Summary: What a turnaround in our experience. We had a bit of an issue during our previous visit in February 2025, but this time around it surpassed our expectations. We visited on a Tuesday for their pasta special – the Braised Lamb Ravioli is excellent! The service and the food were excellent. Taryn, the manager was even floating around and assisting waiters with service of customers! We will definetly be back during our next visit to Hartenbos – highly recommended! • Plus: Braised Lamb Ravioli. No corkage when sharing a bottle of wine between the 2 of us! • Minus: N/A
February 2025 We have had good service in the past at Pizza e Vino (Hartenbos) over the years, BUT 1st time ordering a pizza take-away, it all went awry. We asked waiter to bring pizza immediately when done (due to loadshedding we could not reheat it in our unit). We eventually went to the counter and observed that the pizza had been taken out of oven. It got stuck on the wooden spatula and the cook actually forced the pizza using his bare hands into the box. Pizza pieces all over in the box. Again using his bare hands re-arranged the pizzas to try and form a circle again. VERY UNHEGIENIC way of working with food. We also observed that the dough was still soft (not crusty) and we ordered extra garlic (for which we paid), but found no garlic when we ate it! I doubt if we will ever visit this restaurant again. I 'phoned Tharon (manager for the day) and she said that she would follow-up. O, and we never saw the waiter again who took our order - probably made more money at serving tables? The photo attached is the pizza as we opened the box outside of restaurant. The box also quite greasy due to bare hands handling...
Read moreWhen we arrived their wasn't any table sittings available inside. A lady guided us to the outside tables but it was really wet because of the heavy mist. She just wiped one chair with her hands and said "just wipe it" and she disappeared leaving us trying to wipe the chairs and table dry with our bare hands. My three year old didn't like the cold wet chair at all, but the 3 adults kept our pose trying to make it a positive experience.
Great was our surprise when another lady came with a new family, directing them to the wet table and chairs next to us, saying she'll be back and in a flash she was back with paper towels, drying everything for the family.
Soon after Tiaan came and introduced himself as our waiter. He was very friendly and took our drink order. We waited some time for the drinks. When it arrived we ordered our food. 2 X pasta, 1x ribs and a medium pizza for my 3 year old daughter. We waited nearly an hour for the food, Tiaan kept on returning to the table, seeing if we needed anything, gave my daughter crayons and a picture to colour, just kept us up to date. Finally our food arrived. The pasta was cold and my daughter's pizza just went into the oven. Now there we sat, 3 adults with food Infront of us and could not start eating because who wants to eat Infront of a child. We had to please and explain the situation to her. Poor Tiaan tried to keep the situation calm, and it wasn't his fault at all. When her pizza arrived our food was ice cold when we started eating. So this wasn't a very good experience for us. Won't eat there again. But we wish Tiaan all the best and we thank hom for his kind and...
Read moreWe went to Piza è Vino Hartenbos on the 2nd November for my 60th. We were 8 people. As we have been there 4x times before ,we wanted to take our friends there as we always had very good food and beautiful view. We were allowed to take flowers and birthday cake with. Greeting at door and service of waitress Janneke was good. BUT food was very disappointing. We all had different pizzas and pasta. The toppings on pizzas very minimal ( where before pizzas were loaded with toppings) and some pizzas were burnt underneath and dry. My ravioli with butternut was really bad and no taste. We all got the idea that our food was standing to long under the warmer. We waited for our food 50 minutes and restaurant wasn't full. People that came in after us ( table of 5) got their food before us. The only thing that was nice was the cocktails. I really enjoyed the food on previous occasions there a lot and that is why we decided to celebrate my 60th there. We are from George and didn't mind driving out there.
Will we go back there soon, not sure. Hope you can attend to your food as you have a nice restaurant with a awesome view. Maybe some light background music can give more ambiance...
