ATKV Hartenbos — Hotel in George

This doesn't fall into a simple category like the usual hotel accommodation. It isn't a hotel It is designed for a range of self catering guests. At one end of the scale you can bring a tent and hook up to electricity posts. There are shared toilet/shower/ bath blocks with coin operated laundry machines. 25 rand for the washing machines. Then there are rooms with beds / fridges/ sinks and very basic cooking facilities plus cups, glasses, plates and cutlery but again shared ablution blocks just like the camping. Also available are similar rooms with private washrooms ,mostly with showers rather than baths. These can accommodate from 2 to 8 people depending on the room chosen. The place is clean and the staff friendly. All the accommodation has a barbecue facility built just outside and the showers are very powerful with plenty of hot water. I think the accommodation is excellent value. I stayed one night in a room without private washroom and one night in one with a washroom. Have to say not notifying people of your cold "warm pool" is false advertising... I specifically booked with ATKV to have the option of a warm Pool on the colder days. The memory of having a night time swim etc. The water is freezing. When asked about it I get told loadshedding so because of 5 hours a day the pool is ice cold.. What about the other 19 hours we do have electricity? And loadshedding been with us for years now, surely when this is an attraction where you have to Pay for it as well (even tho you an ATKV visitor) you could have made another plan by now? Even if it was for free - still cannot advertise a warm pool when it's clearly not. Loadshedding is no surprise? Why then not advise your clients of the situation? Is it because you aware of the impact that would have on your bookings/sales? If I was gonna be happy with a cold pool there would be 10000 other /better options available. But chose ATKV to have this warm...

Update!! As soon as the long weekend is over, the service stops! Hot water pool becomes the property of swim schools, and nobody tells you anywhere.

Nothing available in the rooms fir loadshedding. In fact you dial the after hours number and you get my shirty who says everyone is in the dark it's loadshedding. When you ask where is the light, he says he doesn't know it should be there. What does he do?? Nothing!!! So it's not Self Catering.
