Where to start...

For lunch, I had the nachos chicken schnitzel. It looked better on the photo than on the plate, and the taste wasn't great.

We decided to go the evening again (as we love The Spur), but the steaks didn't look like it was grilled. Just a slap of that sweet basting on it, no char on any steaks. The table opposite us's ribs looked anaemic as well. I know ribs are cooked prior, but the look of it would put you off it immediately. One of our steaks was so chewy because of the tendons. With such sweet basting, the mushroom and cheezy jalapeño sauce didn't go well. I think it's because it's not flame grilled into the meat.

I ordered 3 beers, and all of them were warm. I asked for a cold beer, and they brought it out in a little ice bucket. Would've taken ages to get cold before even drinking it.

The peppermint crisp tart tasted old as it wasn't creamy, just a thick piece of old refrigerated tart.

I don't know if the Spur is under new management or if Head Office decided on new ways to implement recipes, but things are just not the same anymore. More choices on the menu but lacking in taste. Please go back to the good old days with the wooden menus and salad valleys because it's all lacking substance. We visited Oudshoorn's Spur, and it was FANTASTIC. Whatever they're doing there (grill wise), it's a winner. It's chargrilled. It's tasty, and it's what you'd expect a Spur should be!!!

Our family had a fantastic experience at Takoda Spur! From the moment we arrived, the service was top-notch – friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. The staff went out of their way to make us feel comfortable. But the real star of the show was the food. I love my Spurs, but I don’t ever want to come back here. I’m used to great service, here we actually had to ASK to get our table cleaned of our dishes, by management even. They never came to check up on us mid-meal. If they did I would’ve told them that I’d like to have your Spur chip spice on my plain chips, and that I did not want onion rings. There goes wasted food. I would’ve also mentioned that all of the ladies toilets were not working. Used toilet paper in all the toilets. I couldn’t even flush my own toilet properly. Had to flush 7 times just to get majority of the toilet paper gone. Quite gross actually. The downstairs public toilet was better. Quite gross. But the lady manager was a pleasure out of everything.

Edit: Spoke with Spur and seems like they will address the issues which is great. Therefore, I’ll give them time and return to try again. In the meantime I’ve given an extra star for their contact and effort. I appreciate the...
