A beautiful setting with a backdrop of animals, a pond and mountains. A few small shops and a nursery onsite. It is pet friendly with nice grass and shade for my dog to lay in. There is no tree or shade to park or sit under but there are umbrellas which you'll need to move yourself if you want to maintain shade while there. I arrived and asked if they could do a mango milkshake before looking at the menu and it was not a problem, 15 minutes later the waitress came to explain that it may be expensive as it is a milkshake and a juice, I explained that isn't a problem but that will yield a drink and a half, not just one milkshake. Another waitress came another 10 minutes later and explained about costing issues and although they didn't tell me how much, I assume it would be R80 for a mango milkshake by all the commotion they caused. I just ordered a coffee milkshake instead which then took half an hour to arrive. They should have just told me they can't do mango but to check the menu for their smoothies which ended up being tasty, healthy and fairly priced. I ate the calamari and rice which was like hot rubber, I didn't enjoy it at all. To my right was a group of loud obnoxious teens and to my left rude ADHD kids with no concept of personal space. I mostly didn't enjoy...

The Roadside Cafe in Plettenberg Bay is a hidden (not so hidden) gem on Piesang Road. The location is picture perfect with the mountains as your view, chickens pecking at your feet & the neighing of a couple of horses as the soundtrack. But all without that ‘farm’ smell. The Roadside cafe is made up of inside & outside eating tables with a nursery attached to the cafe. Now the food - a generous selection of breakfast, toasted sarmies, bagels & main meals not to mention sweet treats. Always a juice of the day and a cake of the day - the blueberry tart was excellent & a good substitute for the milk tart which wasn’t on offer the day we were there. I had the fish tacos on offer - oh my word - one of the best meals I’ve eaten - like in a long time! 3 generous sized tacos with crispy fish bites, a yummy salad - but let’s discuss the chips - now the chips are an experience I can’t believe I have ever gone without! Thinly cut with the skin on and a seasoning that was literally to die for! I couldn’t get enough! Don’t miss out on the opportunity to eat at the Roadside Cafe with their smiling, friendly staff, sublime & let me add - most reasonably priced meals. It’s the cheapest you’ll find in Plett! We can’t...

As American travelers, we happened upon the spot via Google. It was the highlight of today’s roadtrip. The food was fresh and very flavorful. The homemade peri peri sauce is one to buy and take home. You get a full bottle for the table and the amount was significantly less when our wonderful waiter picked it up at the end of the meal. My fish tacos were so fresh with a citrusy pineapple slaw and guacamole. The salad was elegant and fresh. My strawberry lemonade was a perfect balance of sweet and sour. In addition, there are kid friendly amenities with animals to view and a playground. Also, there are local shops on the grounds to buy local handmade gifts. This place is truly a gem. Come...
