Surf Cafe — Restaurant in George

Service was horrendous and appalling.

We had been on a 3 week vacation across the Garden route and we decided to have our final meal at Surf Cafe.

We arrived at 14:30 enough time for Dine in as our Joburg flight was leaving at 16:00.

When we arrived we ordered everything all at once (drinks & food), when the drinks arrived she again confirmed our order.

We waited for over an hour as other patrons who came after us finished their meals, on when she realised that our order had not been taken.

The waitress never paid attention to detail, the food was made in such a rush that the quality was comprised. No senior management to explain what went wrong exactly, nothing. Orders not being electronically taken down. Totally disappointed.

I am not happy and would never recommend...

Service was absolutely outstanding. Our waitress would so attentive and quick! The staff all seamed to work together like a well oiled team, when the kitchen and waitstaff were busy the bartender even made rounds checking on those drinks and taking orders himself. Talk about going the extra mile — and increasing those sales with his personal recommendations. Best service — all places should do this

Food was soooooo good we could have ate here for every single meal while we were in town. Ever since Mexico I have been craving Mexican food and Surf Cafe satisfied that need to the max. Food came out incredibly fast!

Atmosphere was chill and relaxing, fresh air.

Price was good!

Parking was super easy.

Would go here...

We actually stumbled in here because we tried 2 other restaurants before this that said they were open to serve food, but when we got there we found out they were not, so thank you Surf Cafe for being honest with your open hours! That being said - it was truly a blessing this happened. Great vegan curries, really unique tequila to try, the server was very fun, and the live music was really great to listen to and really at the perfect sound level to add to the dinner experience but still be able to talk to my group. Definitely recommend here, if we weren’t leaving tomorrow I would go back tomorrow to try out some of the...
