Texas Grill — Restaurant in George

Terribly ridge, and completely unaccommodating. As part of our East Coast Road trip, we phone and booked a seating outside for 2 people, and double confirmed with the friendly lady on the phone that our medium sized dog joining wouldn’t be a problem. We arrived, were welcomed and seated outside then were told by the manager we can only sit with the dog in the smoking section or they cannot serve us. Please note I am 5 months pregnant, so this shouldn’t have even been offered as an option and is not a suitable option. This also all happening on a non-school holiday, Monday evening at 7pm with minimal seated tables; they couldn’t make any other option available to us. Shocking service to turn away hungry, tourists to the areas for a ridiculous rule. If you can serve people (with their dogs) in the smoking section, surely you can serve them in the outside (not enclosed) area. Time to update your ridged rules and become more accommodating to people willing to spend money in this economy at your restaurant. Thankfully we arrived at Steers with 20 minutes to spare to get a takeaway, otherwise we would have been left without food for the evening thanks to this establishments lack of...

So was advised by my friends who know me o too well that I would not enjoy it. But I had to give it a try So heard the sushi was not great so ordered a 8 portion of salmon sandwiches. I requested Japanese 7 spice, was given chilli powder. The sushi rice is overcooked and not seasoned correctly with rice vinegar and sugar. The filling was good though. The sushi is outsourced by another company My partner ordered the 250g rump and pepper sauce with mash ( lumpy) I ordered the Eisbein extra crispy The rump was great in flavour and grilled perfect Med Rare but was rather tough. The pepper sauce is ok not the best My Esbein was sent back as skin was not crispy at all but rubbery. Came back with a better crisp skin. The sauce that comes with the mash, we both didn't like as it's too sweet

Prices are really reasonable, little presentation on food with good service. Alot of people are going to enjoy this place buts it's not going to our favourite...

10/10 to Texas Grill for grilling my steak perfectly and with only butter, salt and pepper as requested. 0/10 to Texas Grill for not offering a salad side dish as an option for those who are carb-intolerant - it is pretty standard practice in restaurants to offer a choice of chips / rice / veg / salad as a side so this is not an unusual request. A small side salad was offered at R15 extra instead of in lieu of the starch. We should have asked for the chips, to at least gift to a homeless person on our way out. The starch fills most of the plate! Please dress up a bare steak with something to make your plating look better too! Imagine, even a few rocket leaves with a sprinkle of course salt and olive oil would have made it...
