I was 100% ready to love this place. Unfortunately it really missed the mark, absolutely disappointing. I went there on a Tuesday afternoon just for that Wagyu Burger as it sounded divine. The waitress took my order, she was absolutely a pleasure. She then came back 5 minutes later with bad news saying they were out of stock and that I could wait for the order to be delivered later or I could pick something else. I should have just left then and there but I had a hair appointment next door and time to kill, just not too much time. The waitress then suggested a homemade beef burger instead, which I agreed to because it sounded good enough. It came within 20 minutes and it looked so good, and so big, as you can see in the pics. But that is where it went down hill. It was too big and too messy to eat with my hands and it became a soggy mess. The beef patty was 90% spiced with pepper. It was all I could taste and masked all the other spices that were put in the patty. My poor mouth. There's a good amount of pepper then there was that patty. I advised the waitress of this. I hate wasting but it became too much to eat, all I could taste was pepper and therefore I had to leave some of it. The chips were good, nothing special. One point for the wonderful waitress and one point for the visuals of the food and the ambiance. I don't think I will be back and I would not recommend...

The whole reason we chose VDM this year was because we've had nothing but great experiences. Apart from the charcuterie platters that were fantastic, the service was lack- luster, we waited an hour and a half for our main meal and when the food finally arrived it was way below the standards we'd come to expect from this usually exelent restaurant.. The schnitzels were dripping in oil, the fries were raw, steaks tough as nails and the flour in the rue for the sauce was under cooked and made the sauce taste awful.
Our table was also the very last to be served or certainly felt like it dispite having ordered before a few other tables (not great for my diabetic father in law who needs to keep his sugar levels stable), and as for Christmas spirit.. Well that seemed to be exclusively reserved for the large group listening to the live music outside while the rest of us got ignored inside.. All in all a very disappointing start...
Read moreWe had a fantastic experience at VdM Restaurant in Sedgefield! The restaurant is a great reflection of the Garden Route, with an inviting entrance and plenty of parking. The staff were friendly, efficient, and made us feel welcome.
The menu had plenty of options, and we enjoyed our Beef hamburgers, draft beer, and appletizer. The desserts, especially the Dom Pedros, were delicious.
The prices were very reasonable, and we'd definitely recommend VdM to anyone visiting Sedgefield. It's proof that you don't need to travel far for a great meal!...
