The worst ocean basket branch i have ever been to. All started well ,as we arrived we were greeted and seated and offered a drink. We followed all the covid procedures recorded details and were ready to place our order.
Our waiter arrived and took our order. and served us our coffees and complimentary rolls.
There after the frustration started. This branch had been running a special of fish and chips for R35 and they had seemed to be busy with take away orders , At this point we are the only seated patrons in store of which were two guests my self and my wife.
Based on the sit down store being empty we were sure to get the best service yet we were totally wrong.
1- Our waiter did not return to check on us the entire 25-35 minutes our food took 2- We finished our coffees and were not offered a top up 3- No one seemed to bother that we were in the restaurant 4- I did mention to some guy that seemed like a manager and asked whats the hold up with our food and his response was " im going to the back to check ' next thing his busy chatting on the phone and failed to advise me not to worry your order is on its way. 5 - When the food finally arrived seemed much cooler and warm as compared to the normal ocean basket standard of hot served in the pot 6 - My waiter apologized by saying sorry im busy with phone orders. I told him i respect that but i am the only sit down paying guest in your store so we need some form of service. 7 - I was very upset by the time my food had arrived and had a few bites and decided i was no longer happy to sit in this ocean basket store and requested a take away as i was totally disappointed 8 - Upon payment of my bill of R364 i was upset as this was just money i wasted and i was not an important guest at the store 9 - I took it upon myself to let a manager know and the other staff that i was entirely not happy with this branches service and i would never return.
Upon my exit of the store i looked back and saw an empty shop and then i thought to myself " Now i know why !!! "
Lastly the OB team at this branch did say sorry ......sorry doesn't pay the bills i never say sorry when it was time to make the payment and neither are we looking to rob anyone so we only asks for the basic services you expect at a restaurant. Especially now with COVID19 our pockets are tight but we still choose to support local stores and business and the bottom line is this was a poor example.
I STILL LOVE THE BRAND OB AS THEY ARE THE BEST BUT AS FOR THIS...
Read moreIt's disheartening to write this review, as Ocean Basket in Durban North has always been a favorite. I hope OB Head Office takes note, as losing such a reputable brand in the area would be unfortunate.
Our experience last night was nothing short of disappointing. From the moment we sat down, it was evident that something was off. Our waiter seemed disinterested, almost as if he’d rather be anywhere else. When we inquired about the visibly unhappy atmosphere—evident from 5 tables openly complaining—he merely shrugged his shoulders.
The issues didn't end there. The timing of our food was completely disjointed. One of us had finished eating by the time the rest received their meals. Even more concerning was the sushi, which, perplexingly, arrived hot as though it had been heated up.
All in all, this visit was far from the standard we've come to expect from Ocean Basket. Regrettably, I can't assure you that we'll be giving it another chance any time soon.
I noticed that every single review in the last few weeks has been of a disappointed nature, and everyone seems to have an automated response of some kind, which just proves that no one actually reads these. Or quite...
Read moreWas greeted at the door by waiter Masi, he seated us and dissapeard after 5 minutes we decided to call another waiter for a menu. After a while Masi appeared gave us rolls no side plates, we then ordered he wasn't listening properly and paying attention, Masi then came and gave two of us out 4 our drinks while the other two members waited another 10 min for theirs, when he handed the other two their milkshakes he threw the straw on the table At one member and he gave the other persons milkshake to someone who had their drink already. It did not end there when he came with platter for two he left it on the table half on the table and half out and walked away. We had to keep trying to get his attention as he did nothing right, we had to keep asking for things we ordered and to top it the food was horrible with too much salt and the evening was spoilt, we drove from Durban central expecting better service, we shall never return...
