Serrano Spur — Restaurant in KwaZulu-Natal

Last night, Sunday the 5th of November 2023, I was served a bowl of full portion Chicken, Avo & Bacon Salad that was crawling of green worms. This happened when I was halfway into my salad. I took a bite of a very bitter lettuce (so I thought), it was so nasty, I had to stop and take a seep of my drink just to wash off the bitter taste. I looked at my salad to check what could have that been because the salad looked fresh for the most part, so I brushed it off and decided to dig in again.

This is when a green crawling worm came out and started crawling around my bowl. I immediately spat out what I had in my mouth and called the nearest waiter to come see what they've served me. She immediately took my meal to show to the manager. Who came and apologized for the incident and cited that the person who made my salad did not properly wash the lettuce, because these worms are common on lettuce.

Unfortunately, no amount of apology can reverse the trauma and let alone the food poisoning I suffered due to their negligence. I suffered from a serve stomach ache and runny tummy last night. I still have, but to a lesser degree today. I haven't eaten anything since because I am very nauseas and traumatized after what happened.

We arrived at around 8:30pm and they were set to close at 9pm. We were expecting them to refuse us and we would have understood. However, we met with, who I believe to be, one of the managers and explained our situation and he gladly welcomed us in. We sat down and ordered our meals (even had time to deliberate).

Because of time, we were also expecting a rushed type of service but it was not so - although they were practically working over time (the kitchen closed while we were finishing off our meals) they served us as though we were their first customers of the day! The waiters and managers kept kindly checking in with us to find out if we needed anything else.

The meals were exceptional!!! I honestly was blown away!

Shoutout to the staff that was working the evening shift on Thursday, 18 April 2024! 🥹🤍✨️ Thank you for being so accommodating, so kind and friendly, and for being such a welcoming restaurant. You outdid yourselves 🫠👏🏼 (always have too!! This was our 3rd time having a late dinner there)

I regret buying a cheesy burger due to the patty that was very dry, upon asking the waiter how the patty is supposed to be she said well done unless the customer request another style of making it and I was very disappointed and had to do a takeaway on that burger I couldn't even eat it. I ordered virgin mojito with less ice and the waiter said it's impossible to do less ice even on this very cold weather.
