Panarottis Klerksdorp — Restaurant in Matlosana Local Municipality

I’m deeply disappointed with the treatment we received at Panarottis in Klerksdorp. As young black learners, we felt disrespected and discriminated against by the manager and several staff members,an experience that completely tainted what was supposed to be an enjoyable outing. We visited the restaurant around month-end, knowing it would be busy, so we were fine with being placed on the waiting list. The manager, a white woman, took our phone number and we stepped out to shop while waiting. Shortly after, we got a call, but when we answered, there was silence on the other end. Still, we rushed back and arrived in less than 2 minutes,only to find our names already scratched off the list. The manager didn’t bother to inform us or assist us further.We were left standing at the reception, completely ignored by both the manager and the staff. Other guests were being greeted and escorted to tables ,including people who had been further down the list than us. Meanwhile, we were left waiting for over 10 minutes with no acknowledgment.The staff showed clear discomfort whenever the manager was nearby and even asked us rudely to move out of the way without making any eye contact. It became very clear that we were not being treated with the same level of respect as other customers, likely because we were young, black, and assumed not to be “important” enough.When we finally confronted the manager, her excuse was that we "took too long" and "didn't answer our phone," both of which are simply untrue. We answered immediately, there was no voice on the line and we returned in under 2 minutes.The only positive part of our experience was our waiter, Michael, who was kind and professional. He truly made an effort, and we appreciated his service.Unfortunately, the overall experience was marred by poor customer service, a complete lack of basic courtesy, and what felt like clear discrimination. I’ve visited this restaurant before with my parents and never faced this kind of treatment ,it’s hard not to notice the difference in how we were treated as young black students.Discrimination, whether subtle or blatant, should have no place in hospitality. Complete waste of our evening..We approached from outside and doors were closed, waiters were inside at the counter and watched us struggle to open the door eventually got in through the half door as we couldn't get if fully open to a cold reception to our table. We had a male stuff faced waiter who only came to take drinks ORDERS. My husband alerted him when we wanted to give our meal order and he ignored us completely until eventually the manager came go take our food orders. The manager was fighting and screaming at the kitchen staff in full view which was really uncomfortable to watch. After 40minuted of waiting for just the starter I asked the male waiter what was happening and all he said was the good was coming after another 5 minutes I went to the kitchen where the manager was who said they were busy hence the wait and I reiterated that we had waited for 45 minutes and were not willing to wait any longer, only then did she start screaming at the kitchen staff to ask where our order was only to find the wings had just gone in. We waited a further 10minutes...no apology when the stiff faced waiter brought the food. We wanted to just leave. We asked for the bill and only then did the waiter smile and say sorry for the wait which seemed as though he was now doing it for a tip. The staff look really very unhappy and gloom. No smiles in fact they avoid eye contact. The service is overall disappointing and bad. I have not been to a restaurant with such poor service in a long time. Even when we left nobody bothered to help with the door or say goodbye yet there were 2 waiters at the front desk. I think there is a bit of a race issue also as I noted that the white patrons were receiving much more VIP treatment and smiles compared to us darker skinned humans. Will never...

What a very disappointing visit. We decided to pop by for a quick pizza after a long day. It was this Saturday around 7 pm. We were off to a good start being escorted from the door, but then everything went haywire. No one came to assist us. Even though it was empty, literally 5 tables we had to ask for a waiter after 20 min. Although the staff had sanitizers, tables were dirty not clearly from the previous table. I went into the toilet and that too was not up to standard. Toilet roll on the floor and the wash basin full of soap messes. Floor was disgusting. Pity I didn't have my cell with me for a picture or two. Our food took a while to finally arrive. FOOD WAS GREAT. That was literally the highlight of the evening.
