Cicada — Restaurant in Mbombela

I was impressed when I got there! Similar look and feel to Capital Craft in Centurion. Menu and service is quite impressive. And so I thought until my food arrived. I ordered a pretty simple straight forward light meal that, judging by the menu, looked great! When it was served it was clear that it had one ingredient extra added to it which I incidentally do not like... All good, I don't usually make a fuss about this but I will let them know that it was not listed on the menu, pay full price and move on, which I did.

Here's my problem... I saw the very friendly, professional waitress take this up with the manager which she pointed out to me earlier. And then... then the sloppily dressed, slouching and unprofessional manager did absolutely nothing! She kept avoiding eye contact and any interaction while walking up and down absolutely aimlessly... This ruined the place for me. The manager is after all the face of the establishment. If not for her I would happily give a 5star rating regardless of the "addition" to my meal. I will be back on my next business trip to Nelspruit and I will test the same situation/meal. Will keep all updated... Stay...

Quite possibly the worst experience i have ever had at a restaurant. unfriendly staff, over priced and whatever you do, do not order the nachos ! the nachos consist of big corn bites (yes big corn bites not nachos) with a disgusting cheese sauce that almost tasted like lemon cheese cake? and then some guacamole quite obviously not fresh with a small amount of cream for R125.00??? Table was broken, was with my baby and they didn't offer a seat for him. (yes i know its not a family restaurant but come on) the manager didn't even say a word to us and we were the only customers. do yourself a favor and go get some slap chips and bread and not only will you have a better meal but your wallet wont be angry with you either. ps also just a tip to Cicada, don't serve you food in the equivalent...

Have visited quite a few restaurants in Mbombela and this one of the better ones. The most annoying aspect is, one of the entrances is through the bar, where people where smoking and that is why I have given it only four stars. Exiting the restaurant through this entrance you should be careful as it leads directly onto the road. The staff where super friendly and efficient. It did not take long before the ordered drinks arived and couple of minutes later the ordered food arrived. The ribs, calamary, haloumie salat and burger where proffesional prepared.
