O Espeto RESTAURANTE — Restaurant in Mbombela

I had a Portugese friend with a restaurant. He taught me that a restaurant needs 3 things to be successful, atmosphere, service and food. Atmosphere-except for some photos on the wall..... nothing else. Service - the girls that served us were trying hard. Friendly, concerned about us and attentive. Food - we ordered rice and veggies on the side and we got chips and veggies. I ordered my espetada medium and I got very well done. We didn't send back, because we hate wastefulness. It's a family value. Old Dámaso would never have served food like that! Overall a rather disappointing experience considering we booked expecting at least a little bit of new years...

Not great. We had a chicken liver starter with 2 bolo do caco (round heavy breads like English muffins) Tasty and very large portion. One bread would have been enough for us. I had a beef espetada which is 6 cubes of meat on a skewer. Nothing else. Sides are ordered and charged separately. Ordered medium rare, meat was very rare, bordering on cold inside. Toilets had vomit on walls, service slow with 6 waiters and only 2 tables maybe because they sit in restroom with doors open having a fat chat. Food had no taste! Prawns was like rubber, calamari was soft but was drowned in tasteless sause. Prego had no sauce and no taste and dry! Chicken wasn’t even spiced. Some had big portions and others had bare plates for R200 without sides! Ordered carrot cake and found hair inside! No options for kids. A waist of alot of money and...
