The short review is: A must-try when visiting the Overburg area! You will not be disappointed. We visited Schneiders Cape Floral Kitchen on November 13th to celebrate our anniversary while staying in Gansbaai. I highly recommend booking in advance, as the restaurant was fully booked on the evening of our visit—definitely avoid the disappointment of walking in without a reservation! Upon arrival, Susanne greeted us warmly and offered us the option of sitting outside to enjoy the stunning view. I would suggest this, though be sure to bring a jacket if needed—the views are well worth it! Enjoying a cocktail as the sun set in the distance set the tone for a perfect evening. Once seated, the attentive and professional staff took over. Susanne kindly recommended the house speciality, H20 gin, which we decided to try. The menu, crafted by the chef each week, offers a choice of 4, 5, or 6 courses and a vegetarian option. Be sure to mention any allergies, as the chef is happy to provide substitutes. As the evening progressed and the temperature dropped, we moved inside to begin our culinary experience. We opted for the full 6-course meal, though do keep in mind that the menu is seasonal and may differ based on the chef's weekly selection. Chef Jurgens himself served the amuse bouche. For starters, we had Prawn, Pea, and Ice Plant—an incredible dish with a delightful contrast of textures. Next, we enjoyed Dune Spinach, Egg, and Mocked Truffle Sauce, which was so convincing that I would have sworn it was real truffle had I not been told otherwise. Our fish course featured Kabeljau, Cucumber, and Marok—who knew warm cucumber could be so delicious? The main course was Blesbok, Cabbage, and Nuts, served at our preferred temperature, and it was truly exceptional. For the cheese course, we were served "Obazier" with Onion and Pepper, and finally, the dessert: Pineapple, Chocolate, and Buchu—an unforgettable way to end the meal. The chef's combination and presentation of local ingredients is a remarkable experience that should not be missed. The dishes are carefully crafted to excite and challenge your palate. The staff also offers wine pairings for each course, enhancing the overall dining experience. Everyone at Schneiders Cape Floral Kitchen was warm and professional, making our visit memorable. If you get the chance, do yourself a favour and experience the magic of this incredible restaurant—you won’t be disappointed. As a bonus, I even purchased a bottle of the H20 gin to enjoy at home, just like we had at the restaurant!

What a lovely place! I honestly didn't expect to find fine dining in Gansbaai and was very pleasantly surprised by this recently re-opened restaurant. Chef Jurgen and his staff came highly recommended by local community and did not disappoint. Every dish was thoughtfuly crafted and beautifully presented. It was my wife's birthday and they even presented her a little cake with a candle, so sweet of them! We did have to wrap it for takeaway though, as, oh, boy, we're we full oflr what! One doesn't normally expects to get this full at a fine dining place. The only small thing that I would like to see is for the waiters to be a bit more knowledgeable of the wines (by the way, nice wine list from local wineries) and give a little but of advise on same. Wholeheartedly recommend.

Cool place. Unfortunately we had one of the worst experiences anywhere. We came as a group for lunch. No kid food options were offered. We have several kids in the group and had plan to eat an entire day in the area. Kids had not eaten. After inquiring, chef onsite on March 30th 2024 became extreme aggravated and rude, ultimately refusing to prepare anything for the kids. We had to leave the trip early and come back to the city to feed the kids. Not even pasta with salt and oil was provided. I could not believe this. Extraordinary unprofessional. Very unfortunate.

Great food - service needs to be better. - Lovely start to the evening, a warm welcome from Susan and a beautiful sunset. We went for wine pairings with the food. The cheese course didn't come with a pairing so I was left with just water which was a shame as the cheese course was sublime. I'd have happily paid for a port if it had been offered. No coffee either as that wasn't working but all ok on this front as offered a complimentary drink instead. The main issue was trying to get and pay for the bill - Took nearly 20 mins and asked three times - waved away by the waiter who was talking to regular customers who were leaving. Our taxi was waiting outside so really wanted to pay. Our waiter didn't apologise when i expressed disappointment. Such as a shame as the location and food and most of the service was brilliant. Just left with a bad ending. I hope the owners read this and take the feedback as...
