Incredibly poor service. To start off with, our waitress never introduced herself. Something minor, fine, we move on. Then throughout the whole evening, she was very slow with service, was never around when we looked for her to order drinks and food, and did not communicate clearly. It was a busy night, fine, we excuse her. We receive our food, which really is great. We cannot fault the food. The foccacias, quesadillas, pizzas, burgers, and calamari was great. The fish was a very small portion compared to other portions seen served earlier in the night, but still tasty. We eventually ask for the bill, and here is where things started going South. We receive a bill with R900 discrepancies. Things we did not order were on the bill. Incorrect amounts were on the bill. We asked the waitress to correct it, and once again she brings us a bill covered with mistakes. We then ask to see the manager. The waiting staff tried to evade our request and said that the manager was off somewhere upstairs when we could clearly see her sitting outside. We address the issue with the manager, upon which she raises her voice at us. She then proceeds to admit that she knew the bill had mistakes, but they were struggling to fix it on the system and still sent the wrong bill to our table. (Alarm bells going off at this point). We also address the poor service from the waitress, where she raises her voice once again and says that it has been a busy night. A busy night is not an excuse for poor service - If you cannot manage the amount of tables on your premises with the amount of staff you have, you should either remove tables or hire more staff. ((All this also coming from the manager who sat on the kitchen counter where clients' food is being prepared (the area that is supposed to be hygienic due to food being prepared on that surface), eating her food. )) This place has the potential to be great. But service definitely needs to improved, and this manager's attitude adjusted. The staff made a mistake and she could not even talk it out with us in a civilised way. It is also very unprofessional to sit on the kitchen counter where food is being prepared (not even to mention how unhygienic that is). Please see attached the bills. The R3543 bill is the incorrect one with the R2665 being the correct one.

On the way into Hermanus you will find the Whale Crier Restaurant and Brewery located at the Hemel-en-Aarde Village. If you are looking to relax somewhere with some good beer, good food and a good vibe this is the place for you. As you walk in you can immediately sense that they wanted to emulate a German Beergarden feel. There is an inside seating area as well as a large outside area with big spacious beergarden style tables suited for both small and large groups. We first did a beer tasting, which consisted out of their own beers as well as from another brewery, and thereafter we enjoyed a draught of our favourite one and some delicious burgers. They day we visited there was also some live music which just rounded off the entire experience nicely. They are still very new, but I can see them fast becoming one of the go-to places in the Hermanus area. Looking forward to my next visit.

Hi - wanted to let you know we had the absolute worst meal at this restaurant last night. To start : my daughter’s chicken nuggets were raw , my moms mussels were dry / dehydrated and had no sauce , the 2 mains of calamari that were served and that cost R125 each were the size of a small starter , my wife’s ribs were ice cold on being served . We addressed the raw chicken and calamari with the manageress who said the calamari was a main meal size ( main meal size must be for Ants 🐜) the raw chicken was recooked & and no one assisted with the other complaints. We ended up paying R1950 and it felt like we were pick pocketed after leaving this establishment as we had paid for a few drinks and utter garbage (food) . Not impressed. If you are thirsty then this may be the spot for a cold one , but stay clear of the food!

Arrived at lunch time it was very busy (Easter weekend) so we were very relaxed and figured we might have to wait a bit. We were a party of 11 (2 guest from Australia, 7 from Knysna and 2 locals ) sat at a table which was dusty and dirty waiter wiped it with a cloth which stank. Placed orders off the menu including Pizzas, Salads and Sushi food took about 40mins to arrive but not the Sushi that took about another hour to arrive (no one, not the waiter nor manager came to explain why it was taking so long) everyone finished eating I went to ask the manager (who did not have a clue what was happening in the restaurant) what was happening with the Sushi I was told it will take another 5 minutes. The excuse it was very busy ( I was wondering if they were not aware that it was Easter weekend ) When it arrived it was the incorrect Sushi items from what was ordered. The people who had ordered the Sushi ate it even thought it was the wrong order (by now they were really hungry). We asked for the bill which every item had been added. When I told them the Sushi that arrived was not what was ordered and I feel they should remove it. The manager (who I am sure had been drinking) told me he will give 50% discount (with a very bad attitude) because we ate the Sushi and did not send it back to the kitchen. We paid the bill and left very disappointed. WHAT A JOKE, NEVER BEEN TO A PLACE SO POORLY RUN BEFORE WILL NEVER GO BACK AND...

Most fantastic family spot to relax. Something for everyone. The food was so fresh and with beautiful flavor profiles, generous portions and extremely flavorful. Service is excellent with priority on social distancing and sanitizing which practiced here especially in the outdoor seating, we felt very safe. The burgers are so flavorful and juicy, not your normal bland burger, clearly they are hand made full of love. The kids ribs was bountiful enough for 2-3 meals for my five year old. Pizza crust is a phenomenon, crisp and firm, we had artichoke topping which was sublime with the feta and onion. Another aspect worth mentioning is the exquisite sushi which is brilliantly presented and made to perfection, i highly recommend the crunch rolls. A very minimalistic playground is available but well designed and super fun for kids of all ages. The chocolate brownies were decadent and moist and not worth missing. I highly recommend this little gem in hermanus. It is an absolutely fantastic way to savor a lazy lunch in a safe social distancing way. I will definitely back again after I spotted the crispy fish and chips going out to other...
