Wimpy — Restaurant in Point

My 6 year old granddaughter and I went for breakfast to Wimpy at UShaka Marine on the 13th December. It was 9.30am and the place was busy. We were greeted warmly by Slindile and shown our seats. From the moment we arrived until we left, we were amazed at the service we received. My granddaughter chose her brekkie from the kids menu and we got chatting. Within a minute, Slindile arrived with a board game to keep us entertained while we waited for our meal.

1 game of Snakes & Ladders later, our meal arrived, beautifully presented by a smiling and chatty Slindile. From the first mouthful, my granddaughter and I were so complimentary. The food was delicious. Slindile checked on us from time to time making us feel as though we were the only patrons there, in a busy restaurant.

After the meal, my granddaughter who loves to eat out said to Silindile 'Compliments to the chef. My food was delicious. And compliments to you because the service was great'. Silindile was blown away, receiving compliments from a 6 year old. From the mouth of innocent babes that say it like it is😘. I ditto her compliments. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and my lovely hot cup of Wimpy coffee. And Silindile's great service.

As we left the restaurant, we were greeted by other waiters thanking us for joining them. We walked away with a warm fuzzy feeling while my granddaughter continued gushing over her experience.

Wimpy at Ushaka is terrible!! The restaurant is absolutely filthy !! The table we were given had food lying on the floor under it . No one working there saw the need to atleast clean it . The cutlery that we were given was also filthy. It had food stuck to it . It looks like they don’t wash the cutlery after someone uses it and they only wipe it and use it for the next person . We asked them for new cutlery as ours was filthy and the new cutlery that we were given was also filthy . The third set of cutlery that came was atleast clean . The waiter mixed the whole order up so we didn’t get all the food that we ordered

We asked to speak to the owner and after we told him about all the issues we had , he just said that this was the first complaint he had for the day . But had he taken the time to be on the floor and look around his restaurant he would have seen how filthy it is.

They can’t use the excuse that they were busy because when we went in there was hardly any people. So they can’t say that the pathetic service was because the restaurant was busy and also even if a restaurant is busy it is a place that serves food , the place and especially the cutlery NEEDS to be clean.

That Wimpy is definitely the worst and filthiest restaurant I have...

The service was good (friendly and efficient staff), however, the was a night mare, we order the quarter chicken and 300g rib combo, the chicken tasted as if it was frozen for a few weeks before been prepared, the inside of the chicken tasted like is boiled and then grilled, worst of all it smelt like a kitchen sink, I have the chicken a good few times before at other Wimpys and it never tasted like this, the ribs where not the best, I would not go to Wimpy again to have ribs. We did not complain about the food as we where very hungry and did not know if complaining would of had a negative impact of the waiter or cooks job (I've been to a restaurant where the waited messed up and was asked to pay for the meal of her salary), we surely respect these guys are there jobs, the waiter's service was excellent I think management needs to do more about the quality the food, something I should also mention is that the burgers and breakfast where very good (always good), not if they non-specialty meals (ribs and chicken pieces)...
