Mugg & Bean — Restaurant in Roodepoort

I was there on 24 July to treat my husband ro brunch for his birthday. Big mistake. The food was absolute torture. We ordered some steak and chips and I had wings (you must remember to add a side separately, because apparently 6 winglets are a full meal for an adult). .. It was freezing on this midnoon. No effort was made to keep the restaurant warm (gas heaters etc). Many of us there were dressed quite warmly but were still frozen from that open door (and was the aircon on?). We waited a very long time, over an hour, for cold plates of the "deadest" piece of steak I have ever seen and wings & dry chils. Zero flavour. No amount of salt, pepper or sauce could save this meal. Real disappointment for the amount we paid, the time we waited and the cold we endured. The people ordering breakfast seemed to be enjoying it and it also looked decent from afar. Hence the first star. The second star is for our kind waiter, Basil. Overworked and stressed, but he was efficient and friendly. Unfortunately, both are not enough reason to go back there, ever. (Tip for M&B: look into your menu. It's by far your weakest point. Please add more variety, especially for lunch. Or atleast excel at the little you...

Good evening Myself and 2 if my friends joined for lunch there today. We shared a lovely salad and had a few coffees. We asked for the bill and gave a generous tip. We told the waiter we will be splitting the bill in 3. The 1st lady paid her R120, I told the waiter R113 he put it through at R130. Told him why R130 I made it clear R113. He apologies and gave me the difference in cash. Friend 3 also told him R113. She told him twice the amount. She got her slip, it was R133. By this time we were not happy . I can understand the 1st mistake , but twice in a space of a minute is unacceptable. She asked him why and got a blank look. We asked for the manager on duty and explain what had happened. Well we might as well have talk to the wall. This is not on Mugg and Bean Town Sqaure. You have just lost 3 regular clients.

Maina served me today. What a pleasant professional caring waitress. She deserves a 5 star review - her overall service and interaction can only be described as service excellence. Thank you!
