As a beer lover I also try and look out for new craft breweries popping up, so when I heard about the Paternoster Brewery I just knew I had to go visit. Arriving at the brewery I was very impressed - the building has a modern and open design with the bar area; where the beers are poured being the focal point right in the center. They have glass windows next to the brewing equipment which is always nice for brewing enthusiasts to see and they have an outside deck and kids play area where you can relax, have a beer or two and grab something to eat. We decided to do a tasting, which is normally 4 beers, but as their 4th beer is a seasonal beer they replace it with water (they did discount the tasting for us because of this). I found their beers very light - even the Porter which is normally quite a heavy beer - and personally feel that their recipes need a bit of refinement, but they have a good foundation to work from. Their beers seem to be catered for those that enjoy lighter styled beers and if you did enjoy what you tasted, they do have bottles available to purchase. Although we didn't grab anything to eat, looking at some of the other tables that had food it looked...

A really lovely, low key, but refined experience in Paternosters Brewery.

Firstly, the owners are staff are so lovely and attentive. You can tell that everyone from their team is energised and trike cared for by the owners of the brewery.

The atmosphere is light, bright, elevated and 100% about making a lasting impression.

Our service was impeccable, in the best kind of low key attentiveness. The new tapas menus is moreish (try the oxtail Arancini and tell me you’d not want 20 of them!) and the beers/ drinks menu is great.

All good vibes. A thoughtful design, interior and atmosphere.

More pro’s: dog friendly. Beautiful vistas. WiFi. The lager! Also shoutout to whomever made the logos/ shirts! Please sell them to the public they are great!

Thank you very much for hosting us 😁 and Prost 🍻

Also, I forgot to take more photos because I was having such a...

Paternoster Brewery is a hidden gem along the West Coast! I had the pleasure of visiting recently, and it was a fantastic experience. The craft beers are the real highlight—each one is distinct, flavorful, and brewed with care. Whether you’re into lighter ales or prefer something with a bit more depth, they have a great variety to suit all tastes.

The relaxed, laid-back atmosphere fits perfectly with the coastal vibe of Paternoster. It’s the kind of place where you can sit back, enjoy a cold brew, and soak in the charming surroundings. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, happy to walk us through the different beer options and recommend their favorites.

If you’re a beer lover or just looking for a great place to unwind with friends, Paternoster Brewery is definitely worth a visit. A great spot to relax and enjoy some truly excellent...

At the time we visited, the tasting cost R12 a glass for 'normal' beers and R16 for 'premium' ones, generally you choose a tray of four but you are free to try more. The tasting glasses are 100ml which is quite large for a taster - if you are with a partner, sharing is a good plan! Removable labels on the tasting trays would be a good addition as one tends to lose track of what is what as the tasting progresses :-D For me their non-alcoholic raspberry & rooibos blend was the winner - super-yummy!!
