Gelukkie — Hotel in Saldanha Bay Local Municipality

Wow wow wow!! We couldn't get enough of this place. So much so that we had to extend our stay and stay a night longer than planned.

The hosts are incredible - hospitable, creative and caring people who are passionate about their little haven that they've created.

We had all the amenities that we required, plus more- electric blankets were a great surprise and the cute little 'black out' box for when Eskom cuts off the power. (Do yourself a favour if you're there when there's loadshedding- go outside and look at the stars!!)

Paternoster is a quaint town, known for its white houses and famous restaurants- well, none of the restaurants were open #lockdown, but there was still much to do. To me, Paternoster is now known for the peace & quiet, this great escape only a short drive from the city, long sunset beach walks and delicious breakfast and coffee at 'Mondvol' a restaurant within walking distance of Gelukkie.

I was at the last blomme and bubbles festival and won accommodation with Gelukkie. Unfortunately due to unforeseen events of my brother passing life has taken a turn and I needed to postpone my booking. Things have been overwhelming and i was merely asking whether it was possible to postpone. The owner is exceptionally rude and spoke to me in a very unprofessional and disrespectful manner. I understood his frustration to canceling and was merely calling to see if I could postpone. He did not have to speak to me in the way that he did. It was rather disgusting, I said i understood and apologiesed but he continued to go off at me on the phone. I told him it was not necessary to speak to me that way and he told me to grow up and put the phone down. Very bitter and will never bother...
