KAUAI Stellenbosch — Restaurant in Stellenbosch Local Municipality

Upon arrival, I was immediately put off by the fact that cleaning was taking place inside the store while customers were present and placing orders. This is highly unprofessional and creates an unpleasant and unhygienic environment for customers. To make matters worse, one of the employees began loudly shouting to others that the store should close — despite it only being 16:30 at the time. This behaviour is entirely unacceptable in any customer-facing establishment.

Nevertheless, I proceeded to place my order: a Princess Wrap and a Strawberry Stinger. I specifically instructed Nangamso, the cashier, that I wanted my smoothie thick. Despite this clear request, the smoothie I received was watery and poorly prepared. When I finally received my wrap and returned home, I was further appalled to find it was dry, missing key ingredients such as feta, and contained virtually no onion mayo.

Given the premium prices charged, the quality of both the food and the service was absolutely atrocious. I am utterly livid that a brand like Kauai would allow such a disgraceful experience at one of its stores.

Rest assured, I will never return to the Kauai De Wet Centre location, nor will I recommend it to anyone. Immediate attention and corrective action are warranted to address the unacceptable standards currently prevailing at...

What a terrible experience! I walk into Kauai about 20 minutes prior to closing and order a simple salad. I pay and ask for the receipt but for whatever weird reason, the cashier apparently had to wait for another lady to come and print it, and she was supposedly in the bathroom. Okay, so I sat down to wait and then checked my change - the cashier gave me R10 too little. Little hassle and I got my R10... I get the salad and leave to the car. I sit and start eating, only to notice that it had not one piece of chicken in there. I remember seeing on the menu that adding/removing chicken is R22. That's quite a bunch! So I chase back to a closed restaurant but fortunately the staff was still around. Some dull-tasting chicken was added to my salad and I left - later noticing that some other ingredients were missing too. The salad was really not delicious and I could go into detail about the quality but that would take loads of time. In the end I was almost ripped off in numerous ways & the salad still tasted bad!! What a shame, Kauai...

Unfortunately today was the last time we ordered from Stellenbosch Kauai. I ordered a salad and found snail/bug eggs on the kale. Being 8 months pregnant, this is obviously quite the concern for us. We have had bad experiences in the past - ordering gluten free wraps, receiving regular ones. Finding bugs in said wraps. Some serious health inspection should be done in that kitchen, maybe some additional training on how to prepare food.
