I went with 3 of my friends today to redeem the free Spicy tuna box loyalty meal, and I was not happy with the service at all. When we got there, we were told to come back in an hour because there was no tuna, we agreed. When we went back for the 2nd time, the waitresses seemed offput by our presence. I think maybe they thought we were not going to come back. They started whispering amongst themselves saying "why are they sitting on our table?" I mean, it's a restaurant - where else are we supposed to sit? They then told us to go inside and redeem. We did, and the lady that assisted us was actually so helpful. She told us to wait for 25 minutes, and we had no problem with that. As we were seated waiting, they kept making snide comments. One of them even said, "This is so annoying. We are too busy to be making free meals." We kept quiet and let that go. When it was time to go collect, we took a few serviettes from the table, and one of my friends took chopsticks from the table, not knowing that the meal box had them inside. Did the other waitress not shout and be rude at her, saying, "Sisi, there's chopsticks in the box!" with an attitude? She could have said it in a proper manner, not shout across the room so everyone in the restaurant could hear. Firstly, their attitude was bad from the beginning. Secondly, that's no way to talk to someone, regardless of the fact that they're getting something for free. We are regular customers there, and this is the first time they've treated us like this. I mean, if they didn't want to give us the free meals, they should have told us that they're not available. I even asked myself why the loyalty deal is on the website if the waitresses are gonna treat us like that. Rather, they don't do it at all. I am very appalled and angry that they treated us like some homeless people who came to beg for food. I hope the management takes our feedback seriously and...
Read moreSushi Box in Stellenbosch is a spot my family and I like to frequent. Every time we go there, the waitresses are super friendly, it is always clean, you can see the food preparation area is neat and tidy and the food from both Sushi Box and Noodle Box next door is absolutely delicious! Sushi is always fresh and flavorful. Our waitress for the last 2 times we were there has been Mandy, who is such a sweetheart! She is always very friendly and attentive. Coming from a family in the hospitality industry, we can appreciate the elements that come together to make a place good. It doesn’t need to be ‘fancy’ to be an enjoyable experience. There is also always a nice vibe at Sushi Box as it is in a central location, they play nice music and have heaters and blankets in the winter for chilly nights.
Something I’d also like to add is that once when I ordered takeaway sushi from them, they had written a Plato quote on the outside of the bag, which was quite thoughtful. I also appreciate that their takeaways come in cardboard boxes and paper bags and the chop sticks are wrapped in paper, which is much more sustainable and eco-friendly compared to the polystyrene you usually get at a sushi place.

Read moreSushi Box is hands down the best sushi spot in Cape Town! The food is always fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The chef is not only incredibly skilled but also one of the friendliest people you’ll meet—he genuinely loves what he does, and it shows. He often goes the extra mile, sometimes surprising customers with free dumplings, and on my birthday, he made an entire plate of complimentary treats for our table. It’s little touches like these that make the experience unforgettable. If you’re looking for top-quality sushi with amazing hospitality, this is the place to go....
