What is the most important thing about a restaurant? The food? The service? The ambience? For me, by far, the service We had a birthday celebration lunch today and although the service was good, the food was very middle of the road. However, my husband who ordered a pizza just never got his food! I gave him half my plate and the others also contributed from their plates. My son then got up and contributed, and after we all finished eating a manager came and apologized, and said it will take another 6-8 minutes. After 10 minutes we asked for the bill minus the pizza, and THEN the pizza came. I asked for a take away box and NOT to add it to the bill, thank you. I told the manager what she SHOULD have done is to immediately have apologized for the faulty pizza oven and offered another dish. She didn't say a word, just started clearing the table and walked away. Needless to say we will never go there again. Stellenbosch and surroundings have the most beautiful awesome restaurants to choose from. We should have gone to...
Read moreSituated in the town centre, in what used to be the historic Jan Catz Restaurant, they serve delicious and somewhat "traditional" dishes that are beautifully presented. We were a group of 8 people, each ordering different starters and mains, and everyone enjoyed their meals. Some even had dessert which was just as good. They are located in a very vibey part of town surrounded by other restaurants, cafe's and bars, so we went for pre-drinks before going to dinner. The indoor seating is cozy if you want a more intimate atmosphere, but they also have outside seating on the patio - maybe a bit noisy but if you want to experience the Stellenbosch vibe then it's great. All the staff were very friendly and our waiters made us feel at home. They allow you to bring your own wine (at a corkage fee) to enjoy with your meal. Stellenbosch Kitchen is very popular, and rightly so, so I recommend that you make a booking at least a...
Read moreI have to afmit because I was looking for a place to dine at no 99, this was basicly the only place that had space. Atmosphere is nice but from the moment you set foot in the place you get a feel of urgency. Order you starter, main and dessert all at once is what they prefer. Not the kind of way I want to dine. Service attendant could do with some extra training, she was not all bad but also not excellent. Attention to detail was dropped a couple of times. Food well lets see, starters was good especially the salt and pepper squid and the arancini balls. Risotto was ok but kinda felt not worthy of the name risotto. Mains was a dissapointment I had the Kingklip that was overcooked with a huge lump of mash, onky good thing on the plate was the 3 florets of broccoli. The battered fish was also overcooked and the lambshank was okeyish. Dessert was quite good, all of them no complaints. I have to desire to return...
