Overall this was a very pleasant stay. The rooms are spacious and comfy. The front desk is very polite ans helpful. Everything is clean and bright. The location can't be beat.

My big negative was the breakfast. There is a continental breakfast laid out which was good, but had nothing hot. We just assumed that was it, until at the end they brought over a hot breakfast menu. At that point we had already eaten enough. Highly suggest keeping the menu at the table to begin. The second day we decided to get hot breakfast but waited 20 minutes for someone to bring a menu. Then 20 minutes later no one had taken our order still and I had to leave. Also a small pet peeve is the menu says enjoy a selection of teas but for breakfast they all cost money even though there is free tea in the room. I ended up bringing mine...

The hotel has an ideal location for going to restaurants or shops in the town centre in Franschhoek. There is also safe car parking. There is an information kiosk for the wine tram right in front of the hotel.

The room was fine. There was a stove in the room, but it didn't give off much heat. There was load shedding while we were there and no back up power generator (though this is a general issue in alot of places in SA). The hotel itself is set at the back of a commercial centre and is fairly small.

We were not very impressed with the service in the hotel, at check in or prior to travelling. The staff were not that helpful.

Very disappointing. We decided to try Le Coq for a change, as we usually dine at French Connection. The decor and ambience is good, the open fireplace is great and staff friendly - but the food is terrible! The complimentary bread pizza appetiser was cold and oily :( and served on a sample piece of laminate flooring. The main course arrived literally 10 mins after it was ordered. My husband had the ribs and tempura squid...the tempura was soft and soggy. The ribs were ok, but greasy and tasted of bottle sauce. I ordered a tuna salad which was atrocious! 4 pieces of tuna (which tasted ok, on a bed of a million capers, a few baby potatoes and some roughly chopped onions and baby tomatoes....VERY - VERY disappointing.
