When the answer to "where to find a good coffee in Howick" is Bluebird Coffee Roastery you give it a try... And this little unassuming, industrial style, space on the main road far exceeded my expectations! The prettiest cappuccino arrived at the table, with a flavour to match - the best tasting coffee I've had in a very long time!! (the blend today was from Costa Rica with notes of cranberry, goji berry and clementine - yum!) And you simply can't have coffee without cake...and since I couldn't decide, we shared half half - carrot cake (beautifully decorated and delicious in cinnamon-rich flavour) and a lemon lavender slice (a devine combination!) I'll definitely be back for more of their delicious coffee next time I'm in Howick!

A must visit cafe in Howick with the most welcoming staff, relaxed atmosphere, delicious baked goods (and now savoury meals) and of course high quality coffee. They have a freezer menu where you can taste premium coffees as well as the classic menu for sit down or take away. A lovely set up to do solo work or have a chat with a friend - seating both inside and outside. Parking is just off the main road. One can purchase coffee whole beans or ground as well as plungers, cups and other accessories. I always visit when I am home for the holiday. You've got to try the cinnamon buns - they are unreal.

Two Visits, One Perfect Brew 👌🏻 Blue Bird Coffee Roastery is one of those rare gems that instantly makes you slow down and breathe it all in. The moment you step inside, the atmosphere pulls you in - warm, inviting, and filled with the most heavenly aroma of freshly roasted coffee. The smells alone could transport you to another world. And the coffee? Simply top notch. Every cup is crafted with care and perfection. It was so good, we couldn’t resist going back a second time. If you’re anywhere nearby, it’s absolutely worth the detour. A must-visit spot for any coffee lover.

I waited some time before posting this review. In June, my wife and I went to the South Coast for holiday. Since we were passing Howick, I made sure to visit your shop. We were welcomed and served by Lulhe, one of the kindest people I have met. He didn’t only serve us great coffee, but also offered to give us a tour the shop, which I appreciated so much as I tend to geek out when it comes to these things. We left the shop with great coffee and big smiles

Because of this experience I decided to purchase a coffee subscription, which is the reason why I waited so long to write a review. I have had some bad past experiences with other coffee roasteries and their consistecy. I can confidently say that I have received nothing but excellent coffee from Bluebird and have even decided to upgrade my subscription from the house blend to the curated subscription. I also want to add that I have never waited more than 3 days to receive my coffee, and most mly I received it the next day (I live in Joburg).

Thank you Bluebird for the exceptional sercive! Also thank you Luhle for your kindness and great service. If Luhle is so passionate about his job I would love to one day meet the rest of the team. You have gained a loyal...

For a roastery that I haven't been to in person and have only ordered online from... I honestly can say I have 0 complaints.

From the gorgeous packaging, incredibly fast delivery times and downright world-class coffees, there is absolutely no way one can go back to buying supermarket coffee again. This month I tried my hand at their subscription box and this morning I've made my first cup. The first word that comes to mind? Expansive. An incredible cup, and every bag of beans leaves you on a flavour journey. Plus, if you're a bit of a coffee nerd and feel passionate about knowing where your coffee comes from and the hands responsible for the beautiful beans you consume - Bluebird goes out of their way to give you the full story behind every batch.

I have to figure out how to get these guys to deliver internationally for when I leave the country - because goodness knows I will be grumpy without...

I love the new building. The inflow of natural light and negative space gives a very modern feel. The cafe is well situated. I will definitely be back. I will not pretend to love the coffee. I first ordered an iced flat white but was disappointed as the milk was off. The barista kindly gave me another iced cappuccino. I have also tried the regular cappuccino. I would have preferred a nuttier/sweeter roast. The Migoti beans left a bad after-taste, but I’m just fussy. The friendly blend roast were my beans of choice for over a year. Maybe others enjoy Migoti. Maybe I need to try another roast. I love the smoothies. Some of the seating is slightly uncomfortable (understandably) but comfortable enough to have completed 2 hours of work on my laptop. Fast WiFi. Overall, great spot and I will continue to be back and support these guys. I suspect they will continue to gain popularity and run out of...
