After tackling the ânew Maritzburgâ highway, dodging trucks, single lane hysteria and a fair dose of road rage, we found ourselves cutting off into the tranquility of Nic Crooksâs homage (Architect, artist and sustainable Don) to the Howick aesthetic, YARD 41 and directly offloaded our crew into the VILLAGE at Yard 41. A splendidly cool eatery that sits perfectly next to a immaculately lawned garden with a unique play area and an unexpected view that shouts âmagicalâ On entering the VILLAGE eatery you are greeted, seated and left briefly to ponder the menu, before a well versed waitress begins the process of sharing this well appointed space and its fare. Dylan, the front man and partner drifted into focus and extended a further welcome to the family and shared some alternate options to a well developed set of appropriate options on the menu. Turn around was fast, quality, a treat and flowed like click work. Prices are reasonable, especially considering the quality and portions served and the service supplied. Personally I enjoyed the âcountry modernâ interiors, the very cool little store upstairs and a wholesome meal before heading further up the road to our getaway destination for the week.    Read moreWe took an early drive up to howick on Saturday morning, Far drive for breakfast...?? I would do it again. The view is amazing and the well kept clean garden is awesome. We got there while the sun was still peeking through the trees IT'S was SO beautiful , I am definitely one for decor at a restaurant maybe it's just me hahaha, So I was extremely happy to see the pictures matched what was posted. The indoor plants were one of my favorite things as well as the decor around the cappacino machine catches your eye as you walk in. We had the farmers daughter breakfast which was delicious and well presented . My Cappacinno was twice as nice in which case I took one to go. I will definitely be back to try something of the lunch menu and I saw a pizza oven outside đ.. Family friendly and definitely a must visit. The toilets were also really neat and clean. And Minnie was a very polite friendly waitress...

What really set this place apart, though, was the attentiveness of the owners. They took the time to show us how the food was cooked over the open flames, adding a personal and engaging touch that made the evening feel all the more special.
The meal began with a delightful surprise: complimentary sherry and freshly baked focacciaâboth absolutely delicious and a thoughtful start. For my main, the steak with chimichurri was nothing short of exceptionalâperfectly cooked, smoky from the fire with lovely sides of ratatouille and Spanish style potatoes.
Dessert was a highlight too. Every single one we tried was amazingâelegantly presented, and a perfect end to an already stunning dinner.
Weâll...
