My wife and I decided to have a cheeky Friday lunch out. We booked a table for two a couple of hours before arriving.
The restaurant looks incredibly inviting, colourful and warm from the outside, with a stunning view from your table of False Bay and Strand Beach. On entering we saw they had warm fire towers, which was a lovely welcome on a bright, breezy, but chilly June winters day. We were greeted by a friendly waiter at the bar. The scene was gloriously set, roaring waves and sea, and cozied by the warmth of the fires and ambiance, and of course the smiles of the staff.
The menu was easy to work through, eclectic and varied and spoilt for choice, with 6 specials to choose from! I was already salivating even while purveying the varied and well-priced menu. The choice of local and varied wines made pairing very easy. We had read previous reviews saying that portions were generous, and we were ravishingly hungry. My steak was absolutely delicious, properly matured, and grilled to perfection laced with creamy Madagascan creamy pepper sauce. My partner had a delicate and delicious chicken schnitzel, topped with creamy cheese sauce and shrimps, both meals served with a generous portion of butternut and creamed spinach, chips or baked potatoes. The portions were indeed generous and absolutely fulfilling and scrumptious. All perfect for a chilly winters day.
The staff were extremely friendly and the warm host and owner, Ben, kept us enthused with his passion and interest enlightening us of all the new menu ideas he has.
Ben is a true restaurateur extraordinaire, and really knows his business, and reaches out to his customers. I noticed that a whole array of people are patrons, including pensioners where they try their best to accommodate their minuscule budgets…heart-warming and touching…
We felt honoured, as Ben intermittently came to check that our food was to our liking, even though the waitress was doing a magnificent job.

Read moreWe were given a very warm welcome and the restaurant has a quiet, refined ambience. Staff are friendly and attentive.
Prices seem expensive at first glance, but portion size is very generous, even for dinner.
Turkish Style chicken was creamy and flavourful. I would have added a stronger coriander punch, but this is personal preference. It comes with a slice of lemon which i didn't use, but would compliment the dish well. Chips are crispy and tasty.
Beer-battered Fish was flaky, fresh and all food arrived hot which is important to me. Batter was crispy, but didn't carry much flavour.
We received the most delicious chocolate truffles with the bill, which are made in house and also sold separately. Do not leave without them.
Excellent overall experience. Highly recommended. Will not hesitate to...
