Fiotto — Restaurant in Busan

From the beginning the location was in an old broke down building and junky bathroom for the price you pay it did not match the ambiance. There was only 1 couple when we arrived and 3 people working including the chef so it was a small dining environment. I felt uncomfortable the whole time after the other couple left because one of the waitress was just standing watching over us and I just wanted to be left alone even though I know she was trying to give good service. For almost $300 for 2 people, all the food though pretty and I know carefully curated was bland and tasteless. I don’t even know how this restaurant got Michelin star. I had better pork buns in a Michelin joint in Taiwan for $2. It was absolutely robbery for the quality and value of food fit this price and there wasn’t even 1 dish that was interesting. The thing that upset me was the $8 kombacha for a tiny pour. We loved the food, and the kombucha was amazing; service was nice and kind but a bit awkward and could be improved. Both kombucha and wine pairings were great but too short (3 small glasses (100 ml?) for 8 sets of food, with no option to choose a longer pairing or at least larger glasses for no clear reason); the first serving took ages to arrive, although overall timing was fine; nobody offered to refill a small jug of water that stood empty after second or third serving; welcome towels were not removed for the whole dinner; and there’s no need to introduce every single drink/dish by “excuse me” in English (a small thing and may be a matter of taste, but unless we’re not paying attention it’s fine and not impolite to just start with “and now we have …”, while saying “excuse me” 15 times in 90 minutes does come across as...

Took my mother there for her birthday. Her first comment was how empty it was in the restaurant, that the flood was very bland. She could t understand how this establishment was awarded a Michelin star given how incredibly underwhelming the food was. She felt that the price and the food just didn’t match in value.
