Communes — Restaurant in Daegu

Communes is a relaxed LP bar in the centre of downtown Deagu. The owner, Hyunshik/ "Hyun", opened the bar in 1995.

The atmosphere is great, very down to earth and relaxed. The bar is mostly staffed by Hyun himself and he's a fun and interesting person to chat with. Wednesday's can be more active as there's an open mike night that attracts some pretty great performances of guitar/ small bands.

Overall this place has become a great place to visit to relax. Draft Kloud is on tap and the taps are clean. Other beers are mostly bottled, but there's a good range and well priced.

I would have given this bar 5 stars but I know it's not going to be everyone's cup of tea. It's a little dive bar that plays good music and has friendly service. I love it here. The space is small, the drinks are cheap. I love going on a Friday night when it's not busy because I like the feeling of having it to myself with some friends. A perfect place...

We had a lovely first visit to Communes and will certainly be returning. People were friendly, and the staff were helpful and made us feel welcome.
