GalchiBada — Restaurant in Jeju

We were really disappointed with our experience at this restaurant. While the view was nice, the service left a lot to be desired. The staff came across as rude and unwelcoming from the start.

We visited as a group of 3 adults and 3 children. I ordered a meal for 4 people, since the kids don’t eat much and aren’t used to spicy food. However, the staff insisted we order more, without considering that the kids might have dietary restrictions or allergies. When we explained, the waiter told us we could just leave. Something I’ve never experienced before at any restaurant.

This kind of treatment really took away from our enjoyment of our trip to Jeju. I usually don’t leave reviews, but this experience was disappointing enough that I felt it was worth sharing.

This restaurant needs to work on improving staff training to create a welcoming environment for families and to ensure all children are treated with respect...

For two people, we ordered the grilled hairtail fish and braised side dish set for 79,000 Won, which includes boiled whole octopus, boneless hairtail fish, Jeju whole hairtail, abalone seafood ttukbaegi, grilled abalone, and hijiki rice. There's also a private parking lot with 2 hours of free parking.

Braised Hairtail Fish: The boneless fish comes with a generous amount of ingredients.

Grilled Hairtail Fish: The bones are removed for easier eating, and the taste is good, though it's quite salty due to the coarse salt sprinkled on it.

Seafood Ttukbaegi: The soybean paste-based broth with added crab, abalone, and clams was refreshing and flavorful.

seaweed soup: I personally enjoy it as the texture felt just nice.

The food in Jeju Island seems to be quite similar across most places, and this restaurant was about average. However, the industry-wide practice of using mango jelly as bait to solicit Naver reviews significantly undermines the credibility of reviews on Naver and Kakao. As a result, they can no longer be trusted.

At this restaurant, aside from one kind foreign server who was polite, the overall experience was marked by unfriendliness. The owner personally asked customers to write Naver reviews, checked the uploads herself, and then handed out the jelly in a careless, disrespectful manner — as if tossing scraps to beggars.
