If I were to bring my foreign friends to a bar in Itaewon, I would not choose this one. Did you know that "banchanggo" means "bandage" in Korean? The drink I had was not "banchanggo"; instead, his unwelcoming manners (I’m Korean, though) made me feel like I had to wear a bandage on my heart. I didn’t care how talented the bartender was until he segregated me and my husband from another group that he was familiar with. He didn’t even try to engage in presentation in front of us. (Couldn’t make a video, but that’s fine.) No explanation about the drinks. No smiles. I thought he could at least ask about the drink he made. Nope! He never paid attention to small details until we left the bar. Oh, he only said goodbye to us, haha. My husband and I were drinking quietly the whole time since we were shocked by his service. I expected having good manners to be a basic quality for someone to run any type of business, but I just realized it doesn’t have to be so. I feel sad that I was not treated with respect at all. If you are still curious, go there and...
Read moreMy experience here was truly ecstatic. While exploring every corner of South Korea, I came across a neighbourhood that felt cosy, with an old wooden door, and I was drawn in by some unknown force. If you find this place, you're in luck, and if it's your first time here, make sure to get a recommendation from the head bartender for your first drink. I wasn't expecting to be able to communicate in English, but he was very accommodating, even speaking Japanese to the Japanese customer next to me. The other customers were also friendly and welcoming, which made the atmosphere even warmer. I can't forget to mention the menu: the prices are unbelievable, the flavours are exquisite and the presentation is like nothing I've ever seen before. My final recommendation is to try the signature Godfather and ramen. If you don't like spicy food, try the alioli pasta, carbonara pasta,...

As other commented, this little bar is located in a nice underground venue.
I ordered an old fashioned and asked it to be more on the smoky and strong side (rather than more on the sweet side). The Barman used a portion of Lagavulin 16 and smoked the cocktail. The taste was irreproachable.
My partner however couldn’t drink alcohol and we were hoping to get her a mocktail. The barman told her it was possible but he couldn’t give her any options and would craft something. She got an underwhelming sour drink for $22 (with a similar price tag, we would have expected something beyond reproach).
Our overall experience was mixed due to this issue. I wouldn’t say this should deter anyone from trying the bar, but simply to keep in mind that mocktails aren’t a...
