My continuous search for good sangria brought me to an unexpected place that my wife told me about after she visited so off we went.
I hadn't been to Taco Amigo in a long time when they were smaller but since then have expanded which is nice to see. I remember the owner from before being friendly and informative about the different menu options and even though he was busy in the kitchen he still came out and spoke to customers which is nice and something he still does.
We ordered a pitcher of sangria which has fruit, triple sec and a very generous amount of brandy. The sangria was "Oh so good!", it wasn't too sweet and diluted with Sprite or Cider and had plenty of fruit flavour and there was plenty of brandy in it to give you a nice wake up to the system. The sangria was very smooth and refreshing and after a pitcher you are left with a nice toasty buzz. This was a very good sangria that had everything you need with it's fruity taste and a nice punch of alcohol.
The first time I came here I tried their wet burrito and really enjoyed it. This time around we ordered the chorizo tacos and the quesadillas to share between the 2 of us.
The tacos are made with corn and come with nachos, rice and beans. The tacos were nice and fresh and well made to hold all the filling of chorizo, salsa, onion and jalapeno. The chorizo had a nice flavour of paprika and delcious fat flavour which helps make a good taco. The rice and beans went really well and the addition of nachos is nice and I really enjoyed it with their chili sauce which I'll talk about later.
The quesadillas were also really made with plenty of meat and cheese and being in the corn tortilla is definitely worth getting. I enjoyed how moist the meat was and with the addition of their chili sauce and sour cream you have yourself a happy meal.
Let me mention their chili sauces. There are 3 different sauces on the table at a different level of spice. The flavour coming out of each of them was really good especially the spiciest sauce which I put on nearly every bite of what I ate and could have drank it.
This is easily a regular sangria spot that I'll visit and eating some good Mexican food with it is always a great...
Read moreIn overall, it was quite disappointing. Perhaps I had had too much and high expectations on this place. I have always craved for the Mexican foods and since it’s really hard to find a good Mexican chain or restaurant in South Korea, I wanted to visit Taco Amigo so badly after I heard from one of my best friends.
Food was okay, and the server was kind (but seemingly she doesn’t have many experiences in the hospitality). The portion of foods is not that bad but some people might think it’s not enough (but many Mexican restaurants have similar volumes of that so it’s okay). Price is not as pricey as other fancy restaurants in the near neighborhood. Food was delayed a bit but it’s understandable because most of the tables were occupied waiting for their foods.
Then why am I giving only three?? Well.. we were 4 , and two of us don’t eat cilantro at all. So when we placed our order for 4 main menus, we asked our server several times if it would be possible to have cilantro on the side not on the top or in the meal. I double and triple checked, but our enchilada had cilantro on the top! The other three were okay though… so I cautiously suppose the mistake was made in the kitchen due to getting busy.
Anyhow, I don’t think I will revisit nor recommend this place...
Read morePleasant waiting staff. When we went there there was only one waitress. Everything that we have tried has been tasty (vegan options, tell them no sour cream). The first visit I had chimichanga with soy steak and vegan cheese with side of rice and beans. The steak (soy) is well seasoned. The chimichanga was large (enough for sharing), stuffed to capacity and fried well (for the size). The rice and beans were a little cool but complimented chimichanga. Wife had quesadilla with pan fried mushroom (vegan). Surprisingly very cheesy and she loved it. We had sangria which is very tasty and mango chili margarita frozen which was amazing. Both aren't too heavy on alcohol but the margarita gives you a nice feeling. We also have tried the burrito (vegan) which I loved. I had the pan fried mushrooms with this. I did prefer it over the previous. The bread was fresh tasting and the stuffing was flavorful. My wife had the fajita which she loved. She had it with soy steak. We ordered from shuttle and the food got to us hot and in good time. I recommend taco amigo whether you walking in or order shuttle the food...
