Another cafe curated by design house "The - First Penguin", Brewing Ceremony is perhaps the most recognisable cafe in Seongsu-dong. The compact street-level space has a space-age vibe to it with huge curved, tinted windows, art deco stainless steel tables and a floating (orbiting?) monolith at the front door.
Brewing Ceremony focuses naturally on filter coffee and produces small batches in-house on their custom roaster, grinding beans for each cup to perfection on their Ditting (Switzerland) KR804. Recent favourites and collaboration beans include Honduras La Montanita (2020 The Best of La Paz 1st), Panama Gesiha Boquete Yeni and Kenya Peaberry Oakland fully washed.
Given it's unique concept and recognition as one of Seongsu-dong's top speciality cafes, Brewing Ceremony regularly features in local magazines and cafe write-ups. These include Korean magazines "Styler" (Dec. 2020), "Bar&Dining" (Jan. 2021) as well as "Our favourite coffee spaces" by Park Ji-an (ì°ëŠ¬ê° ì¢ìíë ì»€íŒ ê³µê° - ë°ì§ì).
Other speciality cafes concepts by "The - First Penguin" include TXT Coffee, Greenmile Bukchon, Parched Seoul and...

They did serve me and my friend free local snacks (forgot the name but picture attached) that tasted of sugar and cinnamon but not overly sweet.
There are very limited seats inside with small tables that are just enough for your coffee and a snack. Solo drinkers are welcome to savor their coffee with gentle music in the background (I forget if it was classical or jazz)
Extras: Coat rack and toilet available Beans in house are available for purchase - 22k won for 200g while gesha was...
Read moreThis is a small cafe for coffee enthusiasts with a changing menu of house-roasted coffee. When ordering, you can choose your coffee beans based on cards with information about each coffee roast, including specifics about bean and roasting type, as well as its tasting notes. The price is rather affordable, too.
For me, it's pleasant to visit this cafe and explore the diverse flavors of handmade coffee drinks, while listening to calming classical music playing in the background.
From the outside, the cafe at first looked like an art gallery, because of its curved walls that reflect the surroundings (many people take photos outside!). The interior, on the other hand, is rather simple and...
