I saw all the good reviews for this place but we avoided it because it was a touristy area and we thought the reviews might be inflated.
The last night before we left, my son wasn’t feeling well, and I remembered that this place was supposed to have the chicken soup so we ended up going. We are so lucky that we did!
Basically three food options: white chicken soup, spicy chicken, soup, and mildly spicy pork soup. We ended up with the white chicken soup and the pork bone soup because a few of us can’t handle spice. Note that we thought the pork soup was medium spicy even though the ladies said it was mild.
The ladies were amazing. When we said no potatoes, they made the change without a fuss. They spent the time to explain everything to us and made great recommendations:
the white chicken soup, definitely add the ramen. Chicken meat goes with a vinegar, soy sauce, mustard blend that you make yourself. Then add fried rice at the end. Fried rice took me a few bites to get used to it because it had flecks of seaweed and a crunchy type of pickled veggie. But then I decided it was amazing and gobbled it all up.
pork bone soup you add a type of fresh noodle. Portions of this are smaller so get a few portions if you are hungry. Ladies will strip the pork meat for you and you dip it into a separate pre-made sauce with salt. Towards the end, this gets converted to a porridge.
Both soups were excellent with very different flavor profiles. All in all it was less than $60 for the 5 of us even though we added noodles and rice and had beer. Service was also amazing with really nice, patient ladies that could speak Chinese and a bit of English. Really one of my top two food...

Theres basically only 3 dishes they sell here, a non spicy (white) chicken stew, a spicy chicken stew and a spicy pork stew. There are add ons you can do like fried rice or porridge to the end of the meal. The soups were subtle and full of flavor. You have to make your own sauce with 3 spoons of soy, 1 spoon of vinegar and 1 spoon of mustard. Add chives and spicy paste to taste and voila you have it.
The stew includes ingredients like chicken, potatoes, garlic, leek, carrots, Siberian ginseng, Angelica root, yellow flag?, oriental raisin tree? And eonammu...
Read moreWe visited the restaurant when we were in Gangnam. We didn't have their specialty chicken stew as we wanted to try the pork rib stew to see how it compared to the one we had in Canada. It turned out to be very different, it was very lightly flavored on a good side. We ordered the portions for two people, but it actually served well for three. We would like to try the chive pancake but it is only available after 5pm. Not worth coming all the way but worth a visit if you are...
