I wasn’t always a fan of Han River swimming pools—in fact, I had avoided them for a while. The ones I visited in previous years didn’t leave a great impression: the water wasn’t very clean, and some even had an unpleasant odor. But my recent visit to the newly opened pool right next to the Starbucks at Seoul Wave Center completely changed my mind.
I initially went to the area to visit the Starbucks branch, which offers stunning riverside views, and was pleasantly surprised to discover the new pool just next door. Unlike my past experiences, this one was clean, well-maintained, and smelled fresh. The poolside offers a beautiful, unobstructed view of 강북, and the atmosphere felt much more elevated than I expected.
I rented a sunbed for just 10,000 won, which was worth it for the comfort and view. The entrance fee is only 5,000 won, making it an affordable way to cool off and relax by the river. In fact, I’d confidently say the view from here is even better than the one at the more expensive Walkerhill Hotel pool.
The only downside is the limited food options. Since outside food isn’t allowed unless you packed it from home, you’re mostly stuck with typical Korean street snacks like 라면, 떡볶이, 오뎅, and corn dogs—which aren’t really my thing. Also, drinks are only allowed in tumblers, so I’d recommend stopping by the Starbucks beforehand to grab your favorite beverage to enjoy poolside.
Overall, it’s a great summer escape with a surprising level of comfort and a view that’s hard to beat...
Read moreIf you’re looking for a budget friendly pool day by the river, this is a good option. There is plenty of space and an option to rent one of the lounge chairs that line one of the three pools. The main pool has a swimming lane but most people are just causally taking a dip. (YOU MUST WEAR A SWIM CAP) but they also allow ball caps… I even saw a handful of people with head scarfs… just cover your head. Theres a few options for snack food including a pizza truck. (Not sure if it’s a permanent situation) The crowd is mostly locals ranging from 20’s to 30’s but there were a handful of kids running around. Overall, it’s a solid option if you want to switch it up from attending one of the hotel...
