As we walked down the road my friend said โI wanted to wait for us to be hungover to eat this, but I was craving it too muchโ. The doors opened and hot air expelled out like a deflating balloon. The intense smell quickly transported me to a warm fondue chalet in the wintertime. I was brought back to the present by the laughs and slurps of white collar young men on their 5th bottle of soju. A woman of about 50 years old, but still with amazing skin like most Koreans, showed us to our table. She was quick and efficient, pointing at the wall for us to choose from one of the two menu items. Seolleongtang and Soo Yuk. We came for the first: bone broth. Everyone at the table quickly started to distribute what was in front of them: chopsticks, kkakdugi, spoons, very-fermented kimchi, and napkins. I stood up go grab a bib from the hook on the wall and handed it to my wife, who was wearing a white T-shirt. โWe have stained too many on this trip.โ I said. As I walked back to the table, the very-efficient-but-not-very-friendly woman was next to me, transporting steaming broths in a cart towards our table. As soon as the claypots touched the table, pepper, salt, rice bowls, and green onions jumped from hand to hand and into the white silky broth. Every spoonful felt velvety and slightly oily. The brawny liquid was so deep the noodles felt secondary. We altered the bites of the tender thin-cut beef that bathed in the soup with crunchy, tangy kkakdugi kimchi. A freezing Kelly beer washed everything down in perfect balance. After a few extra beers we walked up to the counter to pay 11,000 krw per person. We said goodbye to the very-efficient-but-not-very-friendly woman and went put the door, planning already our next meal.

The restaurant is renovated recently and it is loved by more people for its unwavering taste.
This Youngdong Seolleongtang is one of my favorate restaurant for this Seolleongtang and I have visited here nearly thousand times over the last 40 years.
Seolleongtang is the traditional Korean stamina inducing health food which is made by boiling the bones and fresh meat of ox for a long time.
The soup is very deep and savory. The price went up to 13000 KRW. But it is offered with generous amount, and rice or soup can be refilled free of charge.
There are large parking lots for comfortable visit (But at the peak lunch or dinner time, it is crowded and possible to wait.)
