Mapo-gu roasting and speciality coffee institution Kalas Coffee, was inspired over a decade ago by legendary Korean Roasting (1st Place) and World Roasting Championship (3rd Place) barista Choi Min-gun (최민근). As well as roasting wholesale (OEM), selling online and running the Seoul cafe they also operate a branch in Leipzig, Germany.

Back in Seoul, the team have recently finished a complete refit of their flagship showroom featuring an all-white laboratory style interior, Chemex inspired standing tables and on-site roasting factory. Roasting on high-end Probat machines since day one of the business in 2010, the team maintain a high standard of flavour profiles across a range of single origins and seasonal blends. So intent on finding the perfect coffee, the passionate team conduct extensive green bean research on over 500 different coffees every year.
