It is a tasteful and joyful experience to have fine dining in the upscale restaurant with the media art. The journey of flavors maximizes the pleasure of all 5 senses, sight, taste, hearing, smell and touch. It has good menu configuration, each cuisine has a story with corresponding media art. This time episode is Weather over the Ocean to raise awareness of the importance f self-vitality. It is a good example of how important originality and creativity are.
The journey of flavors starts with (theme and cuisine): Day Break: Cocktail Popcorn - Picnic – Birth of Pearl Sunrise: Ode to the Sun (+Kristal Caviar) – KFC Wave Storm: Soup Noodles – Crab Royale Wake Up: Golden – Crab Magic Milky Way: Galax - Bed time Story – Lights
Especially, I liked the Sunrise with Ode to the Sun: Dungeness Crab, Surf Clam, Mussel and Condium. It is full of flavors. The best for me is, of course, its signature dish, Crab Magic with King Crab, Maitake and Truffle. It is divine! The Executive Chef, Jaeyoung Seok is young, good-looking as well as sensible and creative. Staffs are professional and friendly. Especially thanks to its sommelier, Mr. Changwook Kim for his wonderful wine pairings. They match with each cuisine very well, Finally, I would like to express my gratitude to Mr. Jay Lee, CEO of Kani Lab for his warm welcoming and hospitality. I really enjoyed my dining at your upscale restaurant and look forward to visiting again by the chance of next episode. The restaurant is highly recommendable especially for couples, friends and family, but also good for business. Valet parking available for...
Read moreKani Lab poked my interest with immersive dining experience. I would like to say in conclusion, I was very disappointed.
Its whole “media-art” experience was very dull and mediocre. I had expected more of artsy pieces, but after every “weather”, it only changed bits in color of windows XP screensaver. Moreover, the art could only be seen on the screen. I had expected somewhat of an all-round media, where you can immerse in it everywhere your eyes go.
Second, the food was below average. I can agree that sometimes fine-dining does not always mean the best-tasting food, but rather the whole experience. However, the food was just not good. After every bite into the course, I was more and more disappointed. Some themes were interesting, like the picnic but that was all. The portions were also very small and lead time between the courses very long I was starving.
Performance. This is what the whole theme seemed to focus on. But, I was confused at the reasoning and not at all impressed at how the performance carried on.
I was also questioning the quality of ingredients as at some point, I started feeling sick and had to stop mid-course to leave. My partner felt the same.
The price being on the rather expensive side even for fine-dining (in Korea), it was a very disappointing...
Read moreThis is the best restaurant in Seoul where you can experience fine dining with an overwhelming and dreamy atmosphere. As the name suggests, Kanilab is a compound word of 'kani', which means crab, and 'laboratorium', which means lab. This is a fine dining area specializing in crabs.
With cruise travel as a motif, various weather conditions are reinterpreted and expressed with colorful media art and music, and performances and course dishes suitable for the media art are presented.
During the course of the meal, food made with luxurious ingredients is served, which looks pretty and tastes so good. It was a series of fantastic foods, from finger foods served as appetizers to main dishes made with king crab.
If you want a romantic experience on a special day, I highly...
