Manhattan — Restaurant in A Coruña

Called here for a coffee with my wife whilst exploring A Corunia for a few hours off our cruise ship. We’d struggled to find a cafe along the front as most are in the backstreets and seem quite spread out. This place didn’t look too appealing to us (even with its big ‘cafeteria’ sign on the outside. We genuinely thought it was closed at first glance for a while as we could see any life. I thinking owing to the very dark windows and not being able to much inside ? However once we did decide to call in it’s quite charming and a classic style smart restaurant/coffee house. The guy at the bar was friendly and quick to serve us as we took a bar stool as we only wanted a coffee. They do have waiter service as well. We had a nice relaxing sit down and ordered a milky coffee as best we could in our translated Spanish/english. The man serving us understood fine and the coffee was spot on. We needed the loos as well 😊 which was the main reason for us stopping by if we’re honest. It was quiet inside, plenty of people at the tables eating too and the table staff looked very attentive. Maybe they could better advertise the place from the outside ? I think it was the dark windows that obviously hides the inside so visitors might easily give it a miss & not realise how nice it actually is inside. Few quiet restaurants and maybe the only vintage you can visit in Coruna. Dishes are delicious and come with a reasonable price, very delicious cocktails and the waitress are such a gentleman that it’s not easy to find nowadays. The location is so historical, the interior decoration feels like living in the 80s. Vamos a menudo porque nos gusta la calidad de la comida. El menú suele ser muy bueno y el precio es adecuado. Hoy, y no es la primera vez, tuvimos algunos fallos, como que tardaron unos 15 minutos en atendernos, aun estando prácticamente vacío. No nos importó demasiado. Luego mi pareja no pudo pedir dos primeros ( una ensalada y un jamón con melón). Lo hubiéramos entendido si hubiera pedido un pescado y otro plato caro. Solo lo hizo porque en otras ocasiones yo misma pude hacerlo, y porque ahora que me estoy recuperando de una grave enfermedad en la boca, es posible que solo pueda pedir primeros platos por ser más ligeros. Quería saber si podría. Bueno, pidió una milanesa con arroz y se la sirvieron con patatas fritas. Un café doble con hielo y le pusieron uno normal sin hielo. Vale, no pasa nada. Lo que no perdono es que pedí pajitas para tomar mi bebida y me dieron tres...claramente usadas. Pringosas por fuera y sucias por dentro. Puede ser que algún niño las colocara en la barra o...no sé. Lo cierto es que hasta a mi, que no suelo ser demasiado escrupulosa, me dio mucho asco. Os lo hubiera dicho educadamente , pero entre que hablo con dificultad y que era misión imposible que nos atendierais, no pude.
