Restaurante la Rambla — Restaurant in Adeje

After eating here a few times in the past and thoroughly enjoying the food I wanted to take my girlfriend to visit the restaurant as I spoke very highly of there food travelling from puerto de la Cruz in the North of the island to eat there, I wish I could say the same for the customer service but unfortunately it was very poor.

Being turned away from a restaurant that looks very open is quite unusual but being turned away from a restaurant with tables still available outside Iv never experienced, especially when a couple sits down less than 5 minutes before you and they have only just order drinks and still waiting to order food.

The waiter that was working that day said that they closed at 1pm but like I said previously they didn’t look very closed and I explained to the waiter that we had come all the way from puerto to eat here specifically to try the food, he didn’t care too much about that and sent me on my way with tables still available outside.

I saw a comment from ‘Flo’ previously regarding her experience at the restaurant around the same time (1pm) and that wasn’t too great of comment either, probably best to avoid going around that time unless you want to be sent away from the restaurant with a hungry belly.

Not great service, good food if you can get...

We had dinner at this restaurant tonight. We were welcomed and shown to the table. The table was cleaned and the plates were placed, the serviettes and the cutlery was carefully placed and straightened.I guess that was a sign that all that’s going to be well. I had the gambas for starters followed by the chicken wings with mustard sauce. My wife had the ribs. Being North American she knows wings and these were very good. My chicken wings and gambas were excellent. It is nice to have a restaurant where admittedly there is little choice but what they do produce is excellent. The half litre carafe of red wine was very good. Unfortunately the tiramisu was not available but we had some coffee which is particular to the canaries which was excellent. The restaurant was busy when we visited. We had booked in advance and had waited since January to visit again as the last time we went everything was fantastic. This time the service was really poor and could do with more staff. We went to order the smoked pork which was our reason for visiting only to be told all smoked dishes were off the menu due to the guy who prepares it being in hospital. Whilst we understand these things happen it would have been nice to be told before we sat down or even when we booked as the rest of the menu is fairly basic and we could have gone elsewhere. We would have bought more drinks had they visited the table more frequently. Cannot fault the people who were running round but just not enough of them.
