Everywhere was fully booked for dinner on Saturday night, and this was one of the places that still had an available table. Unfortunately, everything outside was booked, so we were seated inside. The atmosphere inside isn't that nice, but we were hungry, and there wasn't much choice. The restaurant is pretty touristy and prices are slightly higher. Their toilets definitely need renovation and better hygiene.
The waiter was friendly and gave us a menu in English. The menu itself is quite big and it took us a while to decide. Once we've made a decision on what to order is was had to get the waiter's attention.
There wasn't a description of some of the dishes, so I wasn't sure of what exactly was in the seasonal salad, but order it anyway. My partner ordered the Romantica salad. Both salad looked a bit identical, but his had prawns in it. Portions were big, but vegetables were very roughly chopped. We also ordered Grilled Canarian cheese, which was okay. Mains we chose were seabass and grilled king prawns. It we known that portions were huge we weren't going to order starters. The seabass comes with a big portion of potatoes and sauses on the side. Schrimps were just excellent. We had a couple of beers, which were good.
When we wanted to pay the bill, it was hard to get the waiter's attention, and we were kept waiting. However, it was a nice touch when we left they...
Read moreWe ate in this restaurant a few times prior to the reason for this review. If you eat off the menu it’s fine and no complaints but after building some trust up with the waiter on the third visit, we ordered some fresh fish off the silver tray he had previously shown off, where we’d decided to opt against it. DO NOT ORDER ANY FISH OFF THE TRAY OR YOU WILL BE SCAMMED! We ordered a golden bream which he said would be suitable for two. When arriving the fish didn’t look any bigger than what we’d ordered off menus at other restaurants during our stay for one of us, but it was just enough alongside the garnish. However, when we got the bill, we’d been charged 53 euros for the one fish when we’d paid around 17/18 euros for fish elsewhere (and that was for a whole fish). I questioned this with the waiter and he said it was because it was fresh and golden bream. I mentioned that they had other whole fish on the menu such as sea bass and dorada for 17/18 euros so why had we been charged 53 euros for a fish but he was not interested. Hasten to add we did not return back and felt robbed that they would scam a family with young children. In summary, this place is ok if you stick to the menu but as other reviews have mentioned, don’t order the fresh fish the waiters parade as you will be charged a...
Read moreTourist trap to be avoided. Due to the dusty haze from La Calima, I had a coughing fit and asked for some hot water. I was charged €2.25 (!?!!) for a small cup of hot water with a sliver of lemon. Clearly price gouging tourists and this was indicative of their miserly attitude and lack of hospitality. It wasn’t as if we hadn’t also ordered a carafe of wine and some sparkling water.
The food itself was hit and miss. The sole was OK if somewhat overpriced (10% cheaper for a bigger sole at Quo Restaurant in Pearly Grey apartments with seaview and better service), my grilled perch was very modest, somewhat dry and overcooked. The green and red mojo were underwhelming and the red lacking piquancy in particular.
AVOID. After a week in Tenerife this was our last night and sadly the worst meal we had. How...
