La Chipirona Playa — Restaurant in Alboraia / Alboraya

Really nice terrace right at the patacona beach with a playground on the beach where the kids can go and play during a long lunch. Talking about lunch, the daily menu's are really very good. 3 starters to share + a main course + a desert for I believe 19.95 - and that for excellent quality food.

It seems like the very friendly, hard working team is mostly Italian and maybe this is the reason they don't have all the typical Spanish things on the menu. A welcome change.

So far we really enjoyed the Sardine rolls stuffed with bread, a roasted aubergine salad (the chef successfully uses eggplant for many purposes, including making sauces), the anchovy crackers (our kids favourite), good, thick, patatas, and quite a lot more. Deserts are very good as well, including a modern interpretation of tiramisu, a very good carrot cake, something like a death by chocolate in a white sauce with pistachio, and surprisingly our 4 years old favourite, the Torrija, a caramelised pumpkin bread.

The location looks great, both the terrace, the inside, and the garden, with nice details, colours, a beautiful wooden floor, and so on. Service is very friendly and attentive, but we noticed that when it gets really busy, they could use 1 person more because they just can't handle a completely full terrace + people inside.

Very bad experience. Lack of attention and bad attitude received from the head waiter or manager. We've been waiting for someone outside and after 5 min we went inside to ask for a table. The "encargada" reply to us that we suppose to wait outside for someone to attend us She said there was no table available and the terrace had more than 4 tables empty or already finished. We saw also other persons and tourist who had the same problem. She doesn't know how to talk to people With really bad attitude we felt kicked out . Lot of people moved on the restaurant on the side we did the same and we had a lovely experience . It's really important in the hospitality job to have good attitude competence and positivity. Very strange experience. We were waiting at the entrance to be seated, the waiter approached us and started to laugh in our face, then 2 other waiters came and joined the laugh. Still don't know what was so amusing. They showed us where we can sit, so we did, and after 10min still no one came to take our order. New table arrived close to us and they already got their drinks, but we still didn't even order. When I asked the waitress if we can order, she said the guy will take your order. When the 'guy' came, we asked for coffees and he said straight up we don't have coffee. That was strange since I saw them bringing out coffee 2 min ago for another table.
