I didn't know whether to rate it four or five stars but I ended up thinking why not five? They did nothing wrong, so why not? Cute little place. Waiter was okay, a bit shy but that's fine. I tried four things and they were all very good. And I mean good compared to places I have been to in London, where I'm from. This place is just as good as any in England, and I'm quite a connoisseur. I won't give them any extra points for the rice because that's a dish you can't get wrong, so it was as good as it should be. The chicken tikka masala I had hot of the three options mild/ medium/ hot. Straight away I rate them for this, giving you the option for how hot you want something. Tikka masala is not a hot dish but they allowed the option of having it hot, which I had never had before and appreciate. Taste wise it was very good and it even had heat, so I got to have a spicy tikka masala for the first time in my life, thanks guys, enjoyed it. The cheese naan was very nice, tasty and melty. The onion bhajis were in a flat shape, something I'm not used to, I'm used to them being big and globe shaped. However, the shape made no difference, they were very tasty. Good crisp, nice flavour, I can't say anything wrong. They gave me four condiments too which I did use including mint sauce and chutney. So there you have it. If you want a very good Indian that is as good as anything in England, you have it in central Alicante. The menu I should add was also full of options and I bet they are all good. I tell you one thing I can mention which isn't a criticism though it might initially come across that way. The portion sizes. There wasn't too much of the masala or the onion bhaji or even the rice BUT, that a good thing! Sometimes you go to a restaurant, especially Indian, and they give you way too much curry or whatever else. These portions are how it's supposed to be. Good, but not too much. So, well done guys for not making us all fatter than we should be with your portions. I left the place full but not dying of overeating like most other places. So there you go, even them having smaller portions than I'm used to is a positive! Oh yes,...
Read moreWe didn’t arrive in Alicante until late on 31st December 2024, all the restaurants were full and the Bombay Indian palace was the only one we could get into. Was really disappointed with the food and the service. It was a set menu at €40 per head. The girl Who took our order was busy talking to other customers coming and going whilst asking us for our order, so much so that we had to ask for our drinks again from another server, we must have waited about 15 minutes on our drinks. The pakora was very greasy more like deep fried chicken dippers. The main course and rice were warm and not piping hot when served and the naan bread was pretty dry. We asked for the bill and weren’t even offered the third course of sorbet, not that we would have taken them but still should have been offered as it was in with the price. All in all a very disappointing experience and stung for €80, not a good first impression for your first night...
Read moreFresh off the boat from Mumbai, I’m a 40-year-old intellectual property lawyer currently taking a break from work to pursue my master's in IPR at the University of Alicante.
Yesterday, I attended a meetup at the Ocean Race Club, and on a whim, stumbled into this charming restaurant for lunch. The entrance and interiors were quaintly attractive, and the owners (from Uttarakhand, India) were incredibly attentive and helpful.
But the real star was the food. Maybe it was the 10-day gap since I last had Indian cuisine, or perhaps it was their unique Uttarakhand twist on the classic Palak Paneer. Either way, this dish was sublime. It gave me the same warm, nostalgic feeling as when Anton Ego in Ratatouille tasted something that transported him back to his childhood. The chapatis were wholesome, and the Mango Lassi was a perfect refresher.
I highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to experience authentic Indian food...
