Martisano — Restaurant in Alicante

We came across Martisano whilst out one morning looking for a good spot for a late breakfast. The place is immaculate outside and inside, and once we stepped inside we were greeted by a lovely lady who quickly got us seated. The menu, whilst not the most extensive, has some excellent choices for Breakfast/Brunch and Lunch to suit everyone. We all chose to have the English Breakfast, and we were not disappointed!! It was beautiful, eggs perfectly cooked, as was the bacon and no greasy plates! (Chef's Kiss) The orange juice was freshly squeezed when it was ordered, and the coffees were good too. In fact it was so good we actually went back the following 2 mornings and were sorry that we had not found it sooner as we would have been here every day of our stay in Alicante.

The staff were so busy on each of our visits, they never stopped! Really friendly and efficient service.

I must say I didn't enjoy at all my first visit.

The atmosphere is spoiled by a loud music playing in the background. For people like me having lunch, it feels uncomfortable. The waitresses are too busy chatting to each other that I had to wait for 30 minutes between the second course and the dessert. The air conditioning doesn't seem to be working properly there as its too hot. Hot and loud music makes it impossible to enjoy a lunch.

Now with regards to the daily menu / set menu: it's nice but not enough food. First course was a tiny salad with just rocket. No bread. Nothing. Second course was a plate of chicken with some sauce and a baked potato. Small portion. That was it. The dessert was a tiny slice of cheesecake.

€12.95 may be a great deal for a foreign tourist or someone on a diet but for a Spaniard is not good at all. I can eat in many other places for cheaper...

In my opinion, this place is a bit overrated. I had read many comments about the “amazing food,” but sadly this was not the case for us.

We ordered the Eggs Benedict with salmon. My friend asked for them without onion and without sauce (or at least for the sauce to be served separately). Unfortunately, the dish arrived exactly as she had asked not to have it. On top of that, we had to ask twice about our order, since it took quite a long time to arrive — meanwhile, people seated after us were served before us.

Another downside: it was extremely loud inside. The space is quite small, yet packed with many tables, so the number of guests far exceeds the comfortable capacity. It was difficult to even hear each other talk.
