This is my 3rd time having dinner. The bartender, Enrique, and the young female server have horrible customer service skills. They really should receive training. I ignored it because I liked the food and the ambiance. I host monthly foodie trips with my Social ChiCaS group and this month was Mexican food. I thought maybe they would treat me better once they saw that I was bringing them some business, but I was wrong.
I made a reservation with a very nice hostess during lunch. The reservation was for drinks at the bar at 19h for 15 women and then sit down for dinner an hour later for a total of 22. I asked her if we could pay separately and she said "no problem." The idea was to mix and mingle at the bar, pay drinks as we order and then sit down for dinner.
I arrived early with a friend, who ordered a mojito. At first sip, she didn't like it and asked me to taste it and I agreed, it didn't taste like mojito. I told Enrique and instead of apologizing, he tried to convince us that he knows how to make mojitos. Unconvinced and disappointed with his response, I said, "She doesn't like it. What can you do?" So he finally offered to make her a different drink.
At 19h, 5 ChiCaS arrived and we were standing in front of the bar to order drinks and Enrique made us sit down at our table because it was too difficult for him to take our orders, enter them into the computer and make our drinks. WoW!! I was shocked. What's the point of having a bar if we can't hang out and order drinks there?
So, we sat down at our table and played musical chairs for an hour. Then, I had to organize the drinks payment before we ordered dinner. This would have been faster had we just stayed at the bar and paid as we ordered.
Anyway, the tacos and burritos were good and the male server was great. Everyone ordered an entree and food service was good, except for mine. I shared appetizers and the taco mix for 2 with a friend. We got the appetizers on time, but we didn't get our taco mix until much later, when everyone was almost done eating.
It's a shame that this was my 3rd time and Enrique and the young female server continue to have a bad attitude. It doesn't matter how great the restaurant is if you hire staff with poor customer service skills. I used to be a catering manager at fine dining restaurants so I know a thing or two about customer service. I DO NOT recommend and I...
Read moreWalking past this Mexican restaurant in Alicante, I was immediately transported back to my time in Mexico earlier this year. The vibrant interior alone reminded me of the authentic charm I experienced there, and while I’d sworn off Mexican food in Europe after tasting the real deal, something about this place called to me. So, I took a chance—and I’m so glad I did.
From the moment I stepped in, I was greeted with the warm rhythms of Mexican music and a friendly staff member who showed me to my table. I kicked things off with a refreshing Desperados beer, setting the tone for what turned out to be an incredible meal. For my starter, I chose the Chimichangas, followed by the Carne Asada Burrito for the main course, and sweet Chimichangas for dessert. To complement the main dish, I went with the classic choice—a perfectly crafted Margarita.
What can I say? Every bite was sensational. The Chimichangas were rich, cheesy, and packed with flavorful, tender meat—exactly how I’d imagined them. The Burrito was the star of the show: the Carne Asada was melt-in-your-mouth tender, with beautiful charred notes that elevated every bite. The rice was perfectly cooked, the cheese perfectly portioned, and the overall balance of flavors was nothing short of harmonious. Finishing with the sweet Chimichangas was like the cherry on top—a satisfying and memorable way to end the meal.
And let’s not forget the Margarita—it was absolute perfection. Had I not needed to head home, I’d have happily ordered two or three more.
This restaurant doesn’t just serve Mexican food—it embodies the spirit of Mexico, from its impeccable decor and lively music to the bold, authentic flavors of its dishes. If I could give it six stars, I would. Five stars don’t seem enough for an experience this fantastic. I’ll definitely be back—this is Mexico in Spain, and it’s...
Read moreDisappointed and frustrated by the experience - NOT a good value for the momey. Beware of the small amount of meat in portions of food.
New restaurant in town - we saw the nice photos and decided to give it a try, based on positive experiences with other Mexican restaurants in Spain. At the time of this review, this restaurant somehow had an average rating of 4.9 (undeserved) stars based on 53 inputs.
The beef tastes good, however please note that the steak is smaller & thinner than expected. For 23.50€ I expect a proper portion.. Seems expensive and was left unsatisfied (basically overpayed for rice and salty beans).
My girlfriend ordered a beef burrito and she could not even taste the meat. We had to crack it wide open to investigate for meat... Burrito was mostly filled with rice, beans and.. more rice! Just a few traces of minced meat - which caused an upset. Just look at the photos - yes the burrito seems big, however it's filled with rice that makes you feel heavy and bloated afterwards. The attached sauce was also poor compared to other Mexican dining places.
The beer was "masked/undercover" - it was listed as "especial sin gluten". Turns out it's a Cruzcampo - a brand that I always avoid. Would have preferred to pay more for a better beer, but didn't know since the brand was not mentioned in the menu.
Service was average - the beer came without olives and no pleasant surprise, nothing extra (before or after food, like some chupitos).
Sorry but this feels like a rip off, could not recommend it to anyone. I don't usually comment here but felt like warning people - as the average rating needs...
